WHS Boosters Board Meeting Minutes

Monday, February 9, 2004

Meeting called to order at 7:00pm. 11 people in attendance

Welcome from President Gary Kramer. IT WAS NOTED AT THIS TIME THAT THE REST OF THE YEAR, THE BOOSTER MEETINGS WILL BE HELD ON THE 2ND MONDAY OF EACH MONTH; INSTEAD OF TUESDAY…PLEASE MARK YOUR CALENDARS.

Out of Order Request to Speak – Joella Olsen spoke about the Human Race on May 8, 2004, 3k & 10K walk and run events. Can use for Booster fund raiser or they would like Boosters to support them. She provided fliers and sponsor sheets and will return next month. For questions, she can be reached at 836-0816.

Members- Dave Kahn distributed new rosters for Sherri Kahn who could not attend. 104 Life, 47 Annual and 18 coach memberships to date.

Minutes – Minutes of January meeting approved.

Treasurer’s Report – Report provided at meeting, total account is $39,647.24. Spent $7,000 for moving of new building to the football field.

Concession Stand – Have new modular building to use for snack bar. It is big enough to use for possible team meetings. We continue to do well at the basketball games with swim team staffing the snack bar. Girl’s softball will cover the last three games.

Stadium Committee – Meeting on Monday 2/16/2004 at 7:00pm in Room H111. Rich Carnation is the chairperson and is working with representatives from the school district. He reported that any changes to existing plans must be approved by the state. This committee will look at the new building we got to recommend the best possible use(s). Also looking at the area behind the stands for parking.

Coaches Report – Coach Jimmy Hardison reported that wrestling if doing fantastic and are undefeated. They will wrestle Healdsburg next week and this could seize 1st place for WHS. Coach Steve Kramer reported that girls’ basketball could make the playoffs and that boy’s basketball has two more games to play. Mike reported that they had 25 people show up and express interest in participating in track.

Mention of hot water heater, sink in concession stand.

Fundraisers – Gary Kramer reported that he has set the date for next year’s golf tournament for Thursday, October 7, 2004. Will only accept 120 people, 30 foursomes. For further see him. Gary Kramer also would like to do a crab chappino feed next year and is soliciting ideas and locations. He also mentioned that Mr. Cozad is helping him with facility options. Dave Kahn offered to contact the Lions Club. There was also discussion of a super bowl/chappino feed joint event.

Special Funds Request – Swim Team needs $4,500 for the pool fees. This is about $800 more than they thought as the Neptune’s have raised the fees. The Swim Team fundraised during the off season to come up with half of what they originally thought they needed; group approved to give them the additional money they need. Coach Kramer also discussed the need for "boards" in the gym that lists the team players names. He will bring some ideas and quotes to the next meeting.

Open Session Comments – Shannon Johnson said that the district is looking at a "food policy" and was interested to know if it would impact booster’s snack bar. Those in attendance felt it did not.
