What's Next?
Mood:  quizzical
So, our summer is almost over and school is starting soon. What are some things you would like to do in Youth this school year? What would you like to do for Spring Break? Let me know.

MIND GAMES
Mood:  sharp
Well, I think I've found our summer camp! We just got back from a trip to the Ozark Conference Center in Solgohachia, AR. The camp was put on by Probe Ministires. There were 4 speakers, Ray Bohlin, his wife, Sue Bohlin, Rick Wade, and Todd Kappelman.

The purpose of the camp is to help students develop a Christian worldview before they go to college. It was amazing to hear the statistic from George Barna research that 4 out of 5 Christian college freshman will, by the time they graduate, walk away from their faith. 4 out of 5 born again, baptized BELIEVERS will graduate and never go back to church!

I was amazed by Ray Bohlin's statement, "Never be afraid of truth!" He was talking about Francis Schaeffer's book No Final Conflict, where Schaeffer postulates that when science and the Bible are done speaking, there is no final conflict between the two. That is the greatest thing I took away from the conference. Science can make all the theories it wants, but there is nothing in any field of science to prove that the Bible is errant. We have the truth in God's revealed Word!

"What is man that You magnify him,
And that You are concerned about him,
That You examine him every morning
And try him every moment?" --Job 7:17-18

Update
Just wanted to let everyone know that I have updated the Sunnyside Youth page. It's still lame, but I'm working on it. It's not bad for free. If you have any ideas for improvement, let me know. Later.

On Fire
Mood:  energetic
Man, I'm fired up. I see God working in our church and among His people. It was October 2004 when I first read Transforming Discipleship. It made a lasting impression. In the book, it said that we should make a 3-year plan. Ogden said that we should live and disciple like we had threee years left on Earth. I thought, man, how can I do that in 3 years? Then God said, "You won't. I will." I see my brothers and sisters in Youth participating in discipleships. I see older members in the church talking about how to start a discipleship and how to do it. God is amazing!
