The Proposal

On January 19th, we planned to go to a Milwaukee Admirals hockey game at the Bradley center. Matt and Mark Olson were celebrating their birthdays. I called the Admirals' office on Monday to see if I could propose at the hockey game. They said that proposals over the big board had been overdone. They would like to try something a bit more elaborate. Each day I called. Each day “The Boys” were working on a script. Finally on Friday, they asked what I would be wearing and where I would be sitting. The plan was that they would come get us during the 3rd period.

We had a great time at the game like we normally do when the group gets together. We shouted our patented cheer “Hit ‘em in the head! Hit ‘em in the head! Kill him!!” A representative of the team came to our section. He said “You there with the Mad Dogs shirt, you must have a friend in the front office. You will be in the next promo.”

I responded “cool!”. He asked if I had anyone special with me. I pulled Crystal out of her seat. We had to circle around to the other side of the arena. He told us that we needed to answer three questions to win a gift certificate for SAZ ribs. The first question was:

What color is the center line?
A. Red
B. Blue
C. White

I pointed at it and said to Crystal “It’s right there. It is red.” The next question was:

Mark, what do you want to ask Crystal?
A. Would you like a hot dog or a brat?
B. Would you like a MGD or Michelob?
C. Would you marry me?

My legs locked up so I could not move. The mascot kicked out my knees so I went down. Crystal was too busy checking out the ring to answer at first. She said yes.
