CHAPTER NINE

“Anyone have a nail clippers?” Leighanne questioned. Josie shot her a glance. On the way back to the hotel, Josie’s finger started to bleed again. Now AJ, Leighanne and Josie were sitting at the kitchen table; trying to stop her finger from hurting.

“Why do you need clippers?” Josie demanded.

“I’m not going to cut your finger off or anything so chill” Leighanne explained. “I’m going to cut the dead piece of skin on top of the cut, it’ll stop rubbing against the cut and it won’t hurt”

“OK, but if you do it wrong and I have to get my finger amputated, I’ll never talk to you again” Josie exclaimed.

“At this moment, If you never talk again, I would be the happiest person on earth” Leighanne joked. AJ threw her some nail clippers and Leighanne tried pulling the skin up. Josie let out a howl and pulled her hand away.

“You want AJ to do it?” Leighanne questioned. Josie whimpered when Nick walked in.

“I got some antiseptic” He exclaimed.

“Josie listen, it won’t hurt after we get the skin off, we put some antiseptic on it and then it’ll feel better” Leighanne explained, sounding like her mom. Josie put her hand back by Leighanne. Leighanne went to cut it again and the minute she picked up the skin, Josie screamed.

“It hurts” Josie cried. Leighanne mumbled and handed the clippers to Nick.

“You do it” Leighanne demanded. Nick grabbed Josie’s hand.

“What am I suppose to do again; Cut off her finger” Nick joked. He pulled her hand up and in 3 quick snips, he had the skin gone. Josie hadn’t felt a thing; she had been stareing at Nick the whole time. AJ squirted some antiseptic on her finger and Leighanne put the Band-Aid on.

“You’re such a baby” Nick joked. Josie made a face and walked over by Leighanne.

“Leigh, Can I wear something of your clothes to the party tonight?” Josie asked.

“Sure, as long as you don’t bleed on it” Leighanne joked.

Josie pulled on a pale pink tank top and some shiny pink pants. She walked over by Leighanne and grabbed some make-up.

“Leigh, Let’s just say-For a moment, That Nick and I were dating, Would we, ya know, make a cute couple?” Josie questioned.

“I guess, You’d be a damn annoying couple, but still, you would look cute together” Leighanne Joked.

“Thanks, I guess” Josie replied. She made one last check in the mirror, then brushed her hair again, she had decided to wear it down. Josie smiled and walked out. Nick stood outside in a hawaian shirt and khaki shorts. Josie smiled and walked over by him. Josie felt something on her leg and she bent down.

“Whose this?” Josie questioned, petting the chihuahua.

“That’s Litty Leigh” Leighanne exclaimed, taking the dog from her.

“She’s so cute!” Josie squeled. Leighanne smiled and kissed the dogs head, letting her run from her to the other room.

“Let’s Go Party!” AJ exclaimed.

“You’re going to dance with me tonight, OR I swear I’ll find Carson Daly and bring him back to the hotel with me and leave you here!” Josie yelled over the music. Nick laughed and shook his head.

“Don’t you want to show me off to all your famous friends?” Josie commented. Brian McKnights ‘Back at One’ was playing and Josie hadn’t met anyone famous yet. Britney Spears had walked past Leighanne right when they got in the door so Leighanne was planning how to do something terrible to her.

“WE’RE GOING TO DANCE” Josie screamed, pulling him towards the dance floor. Unchained Melody came on and Josie wrapped her arms around Nick’s shoulders.

“I can’t dance” Nick whispered in her ear. Josie sighed.

“Just let the music take a hold of you” Josie replied.

“I hate this song” Nick whined.

“Yeah, Well nick I like it so screw you” Josie snapped. Nick placed his hands on her back and danced with her.

“Whoa, My love, My darling, I’ve hungered for your touch alone, Hold me tight, and time goes by so slowly, and time can do so much, are you, still mine?” Nick sang in her ear. Josie laughed, feeling his breath against her ear.

“Why can’t I have a screwdriver?” Josie yelled at the Bartender.

“I can only give free drinks to invited guests, you are not famous, so I will never serve you a drink” The bartender exclaimed.

“I’m Nick Carter’s girlfriend” Josie growled.

“Yeah and I’m dating Justin Timberlake” The Bartender joked. Josie felt a arm on her shoulder.

“hey There Bartender” Jacob Underwood from O-Town exclaimed.

“Hey Jacob, What’s up?” The bartender asked. Jacob smiled at Josie. He leaned over at her.

“If you get me a miller, I’ll get you your drink” Jacob whispered. Josie nodded and Jacob smiled at her.

“Do you know who this lady is?” Jacob asked.

“No sir, who?” The Bartender questioned.

“This here is my girlfriend, Now, You already carded her, so I think you’ll give her what she wants” Jacob exclaimed. The bartender smiled at him while Jacob walked away.

“What did you want?” The Bartender questioned.

“A screwdriver and a Miller beer” Josie exclaimed.

“Here you go” Josie exclaimed, handing the beer to Jacob.

“Thanks baby” Jacob replied.

“You’ll never know what you’ve done for me, put your faith in me, you’ll never know the gift you’ve given me, I’ll carry it with me” NSYNC sang on stage.

“Those guys suck, I have to act like I respect their music” Jacob admitted.

“Yeah, well, I don’t have that problem, I really like the BSB’s music” Josie exclaimed.

“You really dating Carter?” Jacob asked. Josie turned to him.

“Yeah I am, I’m Josie Martin, I watched that show on you guys, You know, Making the Band, I knew you would get in, You look too much like Justin Timberlake” Josie exclaimed.

“But I’m better, I’ve worked hard for my success, Just like the Backstreet Boys, They were doing all the junk over in Europe while NSYNC took their glory in the USA, I hate NSYNC” Jacob explained.

“Well” Josie exclaimed, starting to walk away.

“Will you dance with me?” Jacob questioned, putting his finished beer on the table. Josie looked over to see Nick talking with some models.

“What the hell” Josie sighed. Jacob led her to the floor, waiting for the music to start.

“Early morning she wakes up, knock, knock, knock on the door, Time for make-up, perfect smile, It’s you their all waiting for, They go, Isn’t she lovely this hollywood girl? And they say, she’s so lucky,she’s a star, but she cries, cries, cries in her lonely heart, thinking if there’s nothing missing in my life then why do these tears come at night? Lost in an image, in a dream, but there’s no one there to wake her up, and the world is spinning and she keeps on winning, but tell me what happens when it stops?” Britney’s voice rang out. Josie had her head on Jacob’s shoulder.

“Josie?” Leighanne questioned, coming up behind her.

“Yes?” Josie questioned. Leighanne grabbed her arm, leaving Jacob by himself.

“What the hell was that?” Leighanne asked.

“Girl, calm down, I was just dancing with this guy that helped me out, That’s all” Josie exclaimed.

“If the press see’s you, just don’t OK, If you don’t want to dance with nick, Don’t date him” Leighanne scolded, walking away. Josie stared after her. ‘What’s her problem?’ Josie asked herself. Josie made her way by the Guy’s booth. She slid in next to Nick and closed her eyes.

“Hey Josie, want to dance?” AJ questioned. “Amanda wants to be lazy and she won’t”

“I better not, Leighanne just bitched me out about dancing with other people” Josie exclaimed.

“Who were you dancing with?” Nick questioned. All eyes flew to her.

“Well, The stupid bartender didn’t beleive I was with you guys, So Jacob from that new O-Town group explained to him that I was, So I danced with him” Josie explained.

“Well, as long as you didn’t dance with Britney Spears, I don’t see why Leighanne would care” AJ exclaimed. “C’mon girl, How can you say no to AJ McLean, The sexiest Backstreet Boy”

“I can and I just did” Josie exclaimed. AJ frowned.

“Fine, It’s your loss” AJ joked, walking away. Josie sat still. She needed to learn the rules of Being a Backstreet Boys girlfriend before everyone hated her. Josie stood up.

“Maybe I will go dance with AJ” Josie exclaimed, walking in AJ’s direction. She almost had reached AJ when Jacob grabbed her arm.

“Hey Josie, what happened? Was that your manager or something?” Jacob questioned.

“No, It was Brian’s girlfriend” Josie replied, trying to get away from him.

“Oh, you want to go get some coffee or something?” Jacob asked.

“Nah, Thanks for the offer though” Josie replied.

“Oh, C’mon” Jacob begged.

“How about I take a rain check?” Josie asked. She walked away from him and ran up to AJ.

“Can we talk?” Josie asked, AJ had been talking to Blink 182, but walked away from them and led Josie to a empty room.

“What’s up?” AJ asked.

“OK, I mean, I love you guys, but you have so many restrictions, Don’t go outside or the fans will eat you” Josie started.

“I don’t know if they’d eat you” AJ muttered.

“You know what I mean, then Leighanne yells at me for dancing with another guy” Josie exclaimed.

“Well, girl, You do have a boyfriend” AJ joked.

“It’s not like I was going to sleep with him” Josie replied. AJ smirked.

“OK, Listen, All you have to do is be nice to the fans, Don’t piss important record people off, suck up to the important people, Don’t flirt with other guys and you’re the perfect Backstreet Girlfriend” AJ exclaimed. Josie looked at him.

“Do I get my dance now?” AJ questioned. Josie smiled as he led her to the dance floor.
