The next few moments went as a blur. The moment his monitor had started to beep the doctor’s rushed in. They pulled open his hospital nightgown and pulled out the paddles, trying to get his heart to work. Josie wanted to stay but they pulled her out. Her hand slid from his and she broke down crying.

“I gotta stay with him!” Josie screamed at the nurse.

“U can’t” She explained. Another nurse came up on the other side of Josie and led her outta the hospital room. When she walked into the waiting room with tears streaming down her face everyone guessed the worst.

“Stats?” The doctor questioned. The nurse replied in a hush voice. Nick could hear them but he couldn’t see them. ‘I’m dead’ Nick thought to himself. He tried to open his eyes and he finally succeeded only to see darkness all around. ‘Maybe I was bad and went to hell’ Nick thought again. He squinted his eyes and make out what looked like a figure.

“Doctor, He’s opening his eyes” A nurse exclaimed. The doctor walked over.

“Nick can you hear me?” He asked. Nick tried to move his head, but it hurt like a bitch so he stopped. When he tried to talk no noise came out so he moved his hand instead.

“Ok….I’ll tell you this-You’re one lucky guy. We did as much as we could but the person has to pull through the rest of the way. Most people’s bodies give up and just fall asleep-but you pulled through. Can you see me?” The doctor asked. Nick shook his finger. “OK, this is normal your sight and voice will come back to you soon. Just get some rest, we’ll call your family today” Nick closed his eyes, then opened them again. ‘Isn’t my family still here?’ he thought.

“Josie-Phone!” Chris yelled. Josie kissed Chris on the lips and picked up the phone.

“Yea?” Josie asked.

“This is The New York City Hospital, A patient of ours Nick Carter just came outta his coma and we’d love for you to come and see him” A sweet voice explained. Josie almost fell onto the couch.

“He’s up?” Josie managed to get out.

“Yes, He woke up yesterday. His friends are already here” The women explained.

“Ok, I’ll be there soon” Josie replied. Chris looked over at her. Her and Chris had been dating for a year and she already had a ring. Nick had been in a coma for a year and a half.

“Who was that? You look like you’d seen a ghost” Chris questioned.

“Maybe I did” Josie replied.

“So when is this business trip gonna be over? We gotta start to plan the wedding” Chris complained while they stood at the airport.

“Maybe a week, a month-I dunno. The modeling agency called me and asked me to do a couple shoots for them” Josie lied. She hated to lie to Chris but telling him the love of her life had just woken up from a coma didn’t sound like such a great idea. He kissed her good-bye as she jumped on the plane.

She took a deep breath as she jumped outta the taxi. When Nick had gone into a Coma ,she’d left the hospital that night and left New York 2 weeks later. She didn’t want Nick and her life with him to get to her so she left it behind. She moved to California and hadn’t tried to think of Nick for over a year. But now, as she walked into the hospital, memories flooded her brain and as much as she wanted to forget, she still loved him. She still wanted him and she still needed him. ‘What will you tell Chris?’ Josie thought. The minute the thought entered her brain she pushed it away.

“Josie?” Leigh squealed. Josie turned around and gave Leigh a big hug.

“Leigh! How are you? How’s Brian?” Josie asked.

“Im Good and Brian, well, We got a divorce” Leigh replied. Josie stood shocked.

“No way-You guys were so in love with each other” Josie exclaimed.

“He wanted Kids and I don’t-One night we got into a huge fight and we said some words that either of us meant and we were divorced 3 weeks later” Leigh explained. Josie didn’t say anything. “I guess Brian missed Nick so much, He was kinda like his kid and his brother”

“Yea-I guess” Josie replied.

“Enough about me-What about you?” Leigh asked as she walked her to the stairs.

“UM-well, I guess I missed Nick a lot too so I left New York city and started to live with My friend in California and I met a guy and now we’re engaged” Josie explained. Leigh looked at her with a half smile.

“A lot can change in a year and a half eh?” Leigh asked.

“Yeah-It can” Josie replied as they got to Nick’s floor.

“I hate Hospitals” Josie muttered. Leigh had gone to get some coffee as they waited to get into to see Nick. The elevator door opened and Brian stepped out. He looked around and practically ran towards Josie.

“Hey Josie!” Brian exclaimed. “I took the earliest flight I could..How is he?”

“I don’t know-They haven’t let us in” Josie replied.

“Us?” Brain asked.

“Your dreaded EX is here” Josie replied. Brian smiled.

“I haven’t seen her in awhile and she’s not my dreaded EX-we had a difference in opinion and it fucked it all up” Brian muttered. Soon, all the guys had arrived and some other close friends and family. The doctor walked into the little waiting room.

“Hey! Thanks for coming. I know you’re all anxious to see Nick but first I have some words of warning. Nick is a man that has been out of the world for a year and a half. We aren’t gonna tell him otherwise until he’s better. We don’t want to scare him or freak him out, that could send him back to a comatose state. Many things have probably happened to you guys in the past year and a half that you want Nick to know but I’m gonna ask you to wait a little longer for Nick’s sake. Act as if nothing has changed and it’s only been a few days. Um-He wanted to see Josie Martin first” The doctor explained. Josie took a deep breath and closed her eyes and followed the doctor down the hall towards Nick’s room.
