The Final Good Bye [short story]
"Noooo… shhhh baby," Chris said. Chris placed his hand over Rose’s mouth. "Just savior the moment… for this might be our last night together." He held her closely as she cried her soft tears.
"I know baby… just let it out… let it all out," he said softly. As he looked in her eyes, he lifted her chin and softly kissed her lips. He took out his pocket watch and looked at it. "Baby, there’s only twenty more minutes left. Then I’ll be gone. If there’s anything you want to say-" he stopped. He looked in her eyes and spoke softly. "Say it now."Rose held him tighter and cried out in pain. "I…I…"
"What Darling? Please tell me," Chris said.Rose looked in his eyes. As she looked in his eyes, she feels his pain. Her cheeks streamed with tears… flowing, flowing more and more as she realized they couldn’t be together anymore. She gathered up her strength and told herself to be brave. "I love you…" she whispered so softly, Chris could hardly hear her. He sighed in pain; in angst and in spite. "I wish my father wasn’t so harsh," he said. He looked down upon Rose. Her face, her spirit…her perfection. He loved it all. He smiled and kissed her. "I love you too Rose, darling." "Will you right me?" Rose replied.
"Of course, I will." Chris answered.
"Well fair well then, my dearest love," Rose said.
"I’ll write as soon as I can," Chris replied. He heads toward the train, trying not to cry. He enters the train biting his lip so hard he was afraid he might make it bleed.
Chris found his seat and sat down slowly. He saw her wave to him. Her eyes shining with tears. Her dress blew the direction the wind was blowing. The train horn blew and started rolling.
Chris watched Rose chase the train as it was going on and on. When she could chase it no longer, Chris let his inner pain go. He trembled and tears fell down his cheeks as he looked at a picture of his sweet Rose.
"Sweet Rose," Chris said softly touching her picture. "My heart aches for you… my spirit lives for you… my soul craves your love. We will meet again one day." He kissed her picture with the tips of his fingers. He looked out his window and sighed. Looking out the window, he saw a field of daisies. Slowly he fell asleep. His hands clenched the picture of Rose on his heart.
