Packet
Radio
Packet radio is almost like an early internet. The good thing
is that you don't have to put up with all those advertisements. It can be used
like AIM© (AOL Instant Messenger©). Or you can exchange
e-mail.
Packet radio is data sent in packets. You connect a computer
to a TNC (Terminal Node Controller) which acts like the modem. Then to a radio
which is like the phone line. There are set frequencies on the Amateur Radio
Spectrum for packet radio. I use the VHF frequency of 145.030 MHz.
