STC
opened
the first Jamaican based “Class
A” Authorized Prometric Testing Centre (APTC)
in April 1998. Candidates who are pursuing internationally accredited technical
qualifications can sit their certification exams at this local site. Prometric
is an organization, based in Minnesota, USA, whose purpose is to administer
on-line examinations, worldwide, on behalf of major computer corporations. Exams
are downloaded to STC
via DSL, up to 5 days a week. Microsoft, Novell, IBM, Lotus, Compaq and
Hewlett Packard, all established
global computer conglomerates, rely on APTCs, to test individuals aspiring to become certified
systems engineers. The complete list of hardware/software manufacturers that
employ the testing services of APTCs, such as the site opened at STC, numbers up to 250.

STC administers technical exams for Prometric on Weekdays: Mondays to Fridays between the hours of 9 a.m. and 1:30p.m. |

Candidates must register at least two working days in advance. |
|
To register come to the STC office with your test fees, which must be paid in US dollars. |
| Candidates can reschedule exam this must done at least two working days in advanced. |

Vanassa Mighty or Jacqueline Harding who are both certified as test administrators will complete your registration form and forward it to Prometric. |
|
You will be assigned a Prometric identification number, if you do not already have one. |
|
Please ensure that you note down the date and time for your exam. |
|
On the day of the test you are to bring two forms of identification. |
|
You must sign your name in a log book. |
|
You must come on time. |
|
The exam will be online. |
|
Please be sure that you submit any information regarding where your certificate should be mailed or any contractual agreement pertaining to the certification. |
|
You will receive your score as soon as you have completed your exam. |
|
You will be given a printed report of your test results which shall have the Prometric Seal. The report shall also be stamped "Do Not Lose This Report". |
Once you have successfully completed the requirements for your certification track, you will receive your certificate and "Welcome Aboard" kit from the vendor (Microsoft, Novell etc.).
