An excellent book, one of the first I read. Cunningham gives an extensive over-view of the Goddess and God, Tools, and the use of Dance, Music and Gesture in Ritual, amoung other things. Also includes the Standing Stones Book of Shadows, which has beautiful prayers, chants and invocations. Written so that it is easily understood, and truly a gift from the Gods to all following a Solitary path. I would highly recommend this book to anyone and everyone.
Another must by Cunningham, this provides info on creating ones own tradition, rituals, BoS, etc. It explores practical subjects such as "Do I practice when I'm sick?" as well as effective prayer and invocation. If you've read his first one, and think you're ready to further you're tradition, than this book is definatly for you.
Laurie Cabot, as you may or may not know, is a very active Salem Witch, responsible for at least some of the acception of this Religion. Her book offers a look at the more scientific aspects of Wicca, which is good for those of us who live by a 'prove it' philosophy. I had a hard time accepting the validity of magic until I read this book, and I then learned that it does infact have scientific roots. She also includes alot of work in the "alpha" state. This book seemed a little Goddess-based to me, and wasn't incredibly balanced between the two deities, but still a good read, though it was a little difficult to follow at times.
Not a book one hears much about, but a very beautiful one all the same. Though this book isn't Wiccan, it does have alot of info on flowers, herbs, and crystals as magickal tools. It also has info on each moon phase, aswell as info on the Elements, different times of the day, and the Winds. Excellent for when you feel you're ready to craft your own rituals and spells.
This is a beautifully written, poetic book depicting the Goddess Religion. Obviously the main focus is on the Goddess, and her many facets, and also includes excellent meditations for becoming acquinted with the elements, circle castings, and so much more. A must read for the more advanced practitioner.
An excellent book for young Wiccans, Ms.Hunter makes you feel like you're sitting next to her on the front porch...written in a direct, honest manner, this book has a bit of everything! (My favourite part? All of the little personal anecdotes from pagans who have been there)
Although this is a fictional book, it is absolutely amazing, one of my favourites! The book looks at Arthurian legends, but takes the viewpoint of the women involved in the legends. The book is based in Britain, just as Christianity is becoming the predominant religion. It includes many beautiful rituals, and is really a moving book! It can get slow in parts, but its well worth it to endure!!
