Xenogears
Xenogears was one of the best RPGs of 1998, mostly because of a creative new battle idea and good story line. You take control of Fei, a young man who has many questions about his past. His past goes farther back then most would believe. The world of Xenogears is in a giant war between 2 nations, and the fighting mostly takes place in the Gears(giant robots). Fei has a disaster encounter with a Gear named Weltal. This is the mark of the bigging of his adventures with his local doctor, sand pirates, a women he somehow remembers, and many others. We highly recomend this game, the story gets kind of confusing but the gear battles, plot, and characters are some of the best, and don't forget the music.

Description:Fei is really a kid who was dropped off in Lahan and raised by the village elder. He has no idea about his past. After his village comes under attack and he takes it upon himself to protect it, a horrible accident happened in a new found gear call Weltall, a new model that hardly any one has seen. Fei goes off on a journey with Citan his close friend on watch. As Fei goes on his adventure he comes to find he has a strange power inside him, and strange and horrible death scenes seem to follow him where ever he goes. He also meets Elly, and develps strong feelings for her. It seems a man named Grahf is always after him, trying to unleash the power within Fei for a sinister purpose, but a man only known as Wiseman can help explain Grahf. It turns out that Fei's strange power is a different personality called Id, who is bent on descruction, Fei must come to terms with his inner self to over come him. It also seems that Fei is an incarnation of a man named Lacan, and Kim, and thats just to name a few. These men always had a tie to a women that Elly was an incarnation of, so Fei and Elly were really destined to meet.

Description-Elly is a top Solaris officer, and works with the Elements a lot, she also gets injected with the Drive drug often for battle. While on a mission, she lands a gear known as Weltall in Lahan, causing Fei's disasterous event. She then meets him in the Black Moon forest and leaves, only to meet him various other times and finally join the group. Being in the group sometimes causes trouble though. Fei really starts to like her and somehow remembers her. It turns out she is in incarnation the the Holy Mother Sophia, and this caused Krelain to persue her for evil reasons, it is also why she and Fei fall in love.
Citan Uzuki

Description:Born in Solaris with the real name of Hyuga, Citan was a former Element, working with Sigurd and Ramus. Hyuga left Solaris, mainly for 2 reasons. First he and Sigurded hated the ways they lived and how thier people treated the lambs, and secondly the elders actually send Hyuga down to watch over what was to be the contact, known as Fei. Upon taking up the name Citan, marrying, and having a daughter, he became the Lahan doctor and watched over Fei in the town. Citan is very good with scientific stuff and with Gear repair. Soon Fei finds out about Citan's porpose for following him everywhere, but Citan helps Fei in his best interests for the world and his friends.
Bartholomew Fatima
Job:Leader of the Sand Pirates and heir to the Aveh trown.

Gears:Brigandier, Andvari, and the Ygg. 4 or something.
Description:As a child Bart was to be the price of Aveh, but with the help of Solaris, Shakan took over the kingdom and murdered the Fatimas. Bart and his cousin Margie, the holy mother of Nisan, were saved by Sigurd and the family butler Manson. Sigurd and Manson hope that Bart can one day become powerful enough to take over the Dynasty again. Bart now leads a group of renegades in the Yggdrasil, a great ship that the great Roni Fatima used. Bart has a shot first and ask questions later attitude which leads him to meet Fei.
Rico Banderas
Job:Demi-human Champ of the Kislev D-Block

Description:Abandoned as a child, Rico grew up in the Kislev detention area, and became the fighting Champ of the Kislev Gear battles. Winning these battles would grant his freedom, but he decided to stay, mostly because he liked running the D-block, and he cared for the town and people, even though he would never admit to caring about anything. When Fei turns up in D-Block and helps save the place, Rico joins him, and so does Hammer, the rat-like supplier of info. Hammer betrays the group but later tells Rico about his heritage, as son of the Kaiser. Rico is one of the slowest characters, but is the strongest, his gear is also one of the best.
Billy Lee Black

Gears:Renmazou and El Renmazou
Description:Billy grew to be an Etone because of his mother's death. Biship Stone helped is training for hunting "Wels". Billy also became an Etone to find religion and take care of his silent sister Primera, sense his fater Jessie left for un-known reasons(we all know he was in element is Solaris). Jessie returns a changed man and shows Billy the true nature of Bishop Stone and the Ethos, that God might actually be an illusion, to calm people about tragic life. Billy finely learns to trust his father again, to defeat stone truely show his feelings about his religious faith.

Gear: Seibzehn
Description: A young, energetic little tike who has a good synchronization with her gear. She is the worst fighter you could possibly imagine you could meet in a game. She couldn’t kill a level one creature in under ten minutes without her gear. On the up side of her place in the game, her gear can dish out unlimited beatings, however is a little slow on the movement due to its strangely huge carapace body. You’re very lucky in this game that the gear attack doesn’t matter on the character level, otherwise you’d never use her gear, which would be a major loss.
Emeralda
Job: Resident Bionic Warrior
Weapon: Her hair (that’s right, you heard me correctly!)
Magic: Her charming eyes =)
Gear: Crescens
Description: This beautiful creature (creature being the key word) has a rather mysterious past which, oddly enough, isn’t solved in any direct plotline events! She comes into your group as a child, and for quite a while the way she attacks provides some entertainment on its own, especially because her battle cries meld a fat biker’s relieving sigh after he chugs a beer and a dog baying at the moon together to form it. Her mysterious past is an odd one, too, considering her odd connection with Fei, or as she calls him, “Fei’s Kim.” Her emotionless existence isn’t put in question much because she is made entirely of nanomachines. These cute little things allow her arm to turn into an ax and her hair into a flail at will. I did say that her attacks were interesting =)

Description: This guy with the cool and insinuating black and red armor is possibly one of the better villains ever. His setbacks include the same dumb entrance saying each time you meet him, and also that he never gets unbelievably pissed when you want him to. He just seems to accept defeat or victory with the same stoicism every time. And just for that you just want to jar a large cumbersome object into an uncomfortable orifice of his. At first glance he seems to be the ultimate evil creation of the game, and yet, somehow there is a large space that seems lacking in your enemy as you meet him more and more. Does this mean that the seeker of power is seeking a greater power? (Naw, couldn’t be, then he’d actually be doing what his job description suggests) What form of power does this take the form of? Is it hostile!? Gods and humans and Ids, oh my!!

Description: Well, Ramses is quite an odd character. Raised for the purpose of others, be it experimentation or assassination, he is very insecure. Somehow his blame for his screwed up life resides in Fei. God knows why... or does he know why? Maybe you’ll have to play this incredible game to find out, right? Ramses causes quite a problem for you, always attacking you with machines that you are just barely able to defeat. I guess he’s a good person to help keep you on your toes, but people like him just don’t seem to understand that no matter what, you just can’t beat the good guys, no matter how many times you rebuild it and put on new paint, ya just can’t beat the bad-ass Contact.
