Summoning Magic
Can't beat your enemies yourself? Then you can call on a freaking huge monster to battle them for you. Final Fantasy made this magic famous. Though it may be found in some other game in the present or in the future, it all started at square. These monsters usually have some historic background, and I might have that up with the descriptions of these too.
Alexander-This Castle, knight, whatever he is, can dish out some pure holy magic to smash undead creatures back to the dead.
Bahamut-King of the dragons, and totally cool Summon Monster. He attacks with Mega Flare, which is energy out of his mouth. In FF7 he has 3 forms, including Bahamut, Neo Bahamut, and Bahamut Zero.
Bismark-This giant whale attacks with water and wind magic. If you don't know, there was a famous and very important WWII ship named The Bismarck, and it was sunk. I suspect this might be the meaning of his name.
Bomb-Summon monster in FF4 that explodes on enemies, what else do you think it would do?
Brothers-Minatour and Sacred just wanna have fun playing rock, paper, scissors. Luckily for you they attack the enemy with an earth elemental attack by doing so.
Cactuar-What can beat a lil' green cactus? Not a lot of things. As an enemy these guys are hard to beat, and as a GF they attack by spraying needles.
Carbunkl-This green thingy with a red jewel in its head casts reflect magic on your entire party. I believe Carbunkl is the name of a red gem, hence the red gem on Carbunkl.
Cereberus-The three headed dog of hell isn't really that evil, in fact he's very helpful! He casted double and triple on your party, a very good thing.
Chocobo-By for not the greates summon monster. Chocobo can be known to kick, run into, burn, and flatten enemies.
Crusader-From the holy war times, using this magic can get your enemies as well as you injured, use with caution.
Cyclops-The famous monster with one eye comes out and attacks your enemies in Final Fantasy Tactics.
Diablos-Satin himself or just cheap rip off? Anyways he attacks enemies with a Demi like ball of energy.
Doomtrain-Is this the Phantom Train from FF6? Whether or not it is, it sure is useful when it hits enemies and casts abnormal statuses on them. It even works on bosses!
Eden-Mother of all GF in FF8, I'm not sure how this wierd looking thing attacks, but it sure does take off a lot of damage on your foes.
Fenrir-This wierd dog casts Moonsong on y our party, making them look larger and harder to hit.
Golem-If you want protection Golem is the guy to have. He casts earth wall on your party and protects them from attacks. Pretty useful for a guy made out of clay.
Gilgamesh-Totally freaky bad guy in one game, useful GF in another. This green-skinned freak can attack with four different swords. Ironic that he has 4 arms too.
Hades-Lord of the underworld. He cooks up a cauldron of abnormal statues to dump on your foes.
Hydra-Faris's boat hauling friend helps out with a thunder attack.
Ifrit-Known as the wierd looking troll guy how works with fire magic.
Imp-A weak little midget summon monster in FF4 that holds a whimpy little knife.
Kjata-Tetra Disater is something you don't wanna feel, cause it's bolt, fire, and ice magic combined, and this wierd warthog like thing deals it out at foes with a side of a lil' earth shaking.
Kirin-This wierd horse thingy casts regen on your party.
Knights of the Round-King Aurther himself would be proud. Believe me you WANT, NEED, this materia.
Maduin-Terra's Esper father casts Chaos Wing on enemies.
Mog-Sometimes teamed up with Chocobo or on his own, this wierd white and pink fuzz ball can either confuse oppents, or heal you and your GFs.
Moombas-These guys have big claws, good for fighting one would say.
Odin-The big man, you don't wanna mess with him. Riding his faithful 6 legged horse, Odin slices enemies in two, or hurls a javelin at them.
Leviathan-This huge water snake washes away your worries with this massive tidel wave.
Lich/Rich(I think it's mispelled at one time during FFT)-Some guy from the pits of hell comes up and attackes people with lightning.
Palidor-This feathered friend picks up your party and drops you on your foes. Believe it or not it takes off a lot of damage, on them that is, not you.
Pandemona-If you're looking for wind magic look no further then her.
Phantom-A passed away guy helps you out by making your party invisible.
Phoenix-You know you wanna live forever, and the Phoenix can help you, with revival spells.
Quezacotl-The mighty Aztec god showers enemies with what else, but lightning.
Ragnarok-How can a sword be a summoning monster? Well it changes your enemies into items thats how.
Raiden-The tears of Odin's secert crush beefs him up to the Raiden level.
Ramuh-He may be old, but he can still fight with the best of them, casting bolt spells with this staff.
Remora-I have one word for this one, useless. This fish try to attack the enemy but fail almost all the time.
Shiva-This goddes is always casting some kinda ice spell in every FF game.
Shoat-This pig is so ugly he can turn foes to stone!!!
Siren-Queen of the sea, her music can either silence or put enemies to sleep.
Salamander-Call fourth a slimely salamander to attack.
Sraphim-This angel comes down from heaven to heal you.
Starlet-Once again something that heals you, but she can also awake any party members sleeping on the job.
Stray-Sure looks a lot like Caith Sith to me. Be supersitious around this cat or he'll confuse you.
Sylph-These 3 fairies take HP from foes and give it to your party, very useful at the beginning of the game.
Terrato-Bring on the earth magic! Thats exactly what this snake uses.
Titan-More earth magic! This body builder lifts the piece of earth under your enemies and brings back down on top of the, or he just really shakes it around to hurt them.
Tonberry-*Nash speaking for himself here*ARGH!!! I hate these things, they are so annoying. Well the King isn't that bad once you get him as a GF, he pokes your foes with the tonberrys' specail chef knife.
Tritoch-Tri=3, as in combining fire, bolt, and ice magic, not bad huh.
Typhoon-Blows your foes away. This two faced thing reminds me of Chupon from FF6, fact I think it is him.
Unicorn-Come on everyone knows what a unicorn is. Well in FF6 it casts remedy on everyone in your party.
Zoneseek-What the heck is this thing? We dunno, but it casts shell on your entire party.
