Other Games

This is a section about other games that we like, games that really aren't RPGs. Since we don't want to have this section really full and long, we'll just be making reviews on the games so you'll know if you should go and buy them.

Metal Gear Solid-reviewed by Nash

Metal Gear Solid
Metal Gear Solid has been called the best Playstation game by a lot of magizines. I do agree that this is the best and almost only game of it's kind (expect for Syphon Filter, but you really go around and shoot in that game). You take the role of Solid Snake, from the Metal Gear 1 and 2 games on the NES. This time he's out to stop Liquid Snake and Fox Hound from launching Nuclear missiles from a complex in Alaska, with a new Metal Gear, this time Metal Gear Rex. Snake meets Meryal along the way and even develps a love interest with her. Many dark secerts are also revealed about Snakes past in the mission. There is much betrayal in his mission as well. The only thing that bugs me with this game is the stupidity of the Genome soldiers, but thats it. I suggest buying this game, and I can't wait to get the VR Mission pack. GET THIS GAME NOW.

Legacy of Kain:Soul Reaver reviewed by Nash

Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver
Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver is the sequel to Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain. Strangly enough both games are made by different companies. I don't have the first game, but found this game really easy to follow. Well there is this vampire dude named Kain, and he rules this empire of Nosgoth with 6 vampire lietenants, one having the name Raziel. Razeil evolved past Kain, gaining wings, so Kain gets ride of him in the Abbys, a water thingy that burns vampires. So Raziel gets all mangaled and turns up in the underworld. Thousands of years later an underworld lord awakes him to be the Reaver of Souls. Raziel takes up this job to get revenge on Kain and rid Nosgoth of the vampire menace. He finds some dreaded things on his journey, and he gets the Soul Reaver, a mystical sword of energy. I really enjoyed this game, the block puzzles and others were creativing, and the extra hours hunting for the glyphs make it longer then some RPGs. One thing I disliked about this game is that it has cuts galore, it was delayed enough yet many cool scenes I've seen is screen shots were out, and I found that disappointing. Other then that I highly recommend this game.

Twisted Metal series, reviewed by Nash (Covering TW 1,2, and 4)

  • Twisted Metal was the first game of it's kind and sold millions cause of it's orginal game play. The story goes as so, this guy called Calypso has created this tournament called Twisted Metal. Twisted Metal is a contest in which contestants, hand picked by Calypso, battle in modified cars, loaded to the teeth with weapons. The one who survives get to ask Calypso for any prize that they want, and he is more then happy to grant them this, for he has a mysterious power, from all the souls that are lost within his contest. There is a catch, Calypso likes to toy with people, so there is the famous phrase "Be careful what you wish for." I will now give a breif summary on each TW game I have.
  • TW1-This game is way old, but still really fun. It introduced the insanly addictive gamepaly and got people introduced to fan favorite characters like Sweet Tooth the insane clown, The stylish Specter car, Warthog, and Calypso.
  • TW2-Easily the best game of the series. If you don't know this was the last Twisted Metal game done by Single Track, for they were bought out and the TW licence was given to 989, big mistake I think. For Twisted Metal 2, the develops did the right thing, not changing the game play by much for it was extremely fun. The graphics were updated and weapons and stages were better too, the poplur Axel character also came into view. Plus each character had their own movie ending showing Calypso giving them their wish, which made the line "I am Calypso, and I thank you for playing Twisted Metal" famous.
  • TW3-Ok, I didn't get TW3 for this reason, not one single respected reveiwer gave it a decend review, and if there is one I didn't see it. They say 989 totally messed it up, but now that it's cheap I might get it.
  • TW4-989 redeemes themselves and the TW series. Although it's not as good as 2 it's pretty good, though this time Sweet Tooth has over thrown Calypso and has taken over the contest, can Calypso get back to the top? One problem I have with this game is that all the firmilar characters are kinda gone now, with the execption of Sweet Tooth and Calypso.
  • The Twisted Metal series is well worth your time(if you can avoid 3) and is totally addictive, even more so when palying against a friend. 3 of the 4 games are at the price of $20, so thats a great price to get out and see one of the Playstation's greatest series.
