Final Fantasy 8
Final Fantasy 8, a four disc RPG, is truely one of the coolest games out there. Graphically it's stunning, and has done things that no other FF or RPG by that has done. It's created more systems and games to make your game and character more customizable. You play through the game as 2 characters, Squall and Laguna. Squall is in this group called SeeD, and he and his friends must go out and save the world from a certian evil maniac, like most games. Throught his adventures, he passes out and goes into a dreamlike state, in which he encounters Laguna and his friends.
There are plenty of plot twists and what not to watch and many things you have to guess about the characters, which leaves you open to many suggestions, gotta use your imagination. This is like my favorite RPG(Nash speaking)next to FF7. I feel that it kinda got confusing at times, and the story got kind of blah, but I suggest you go out and get this game, after beating it I'm out for all the merchandise, hehe.
Squall Leonheart

Description-Squall is the main character of the game. He's really a lone wolf and doesn't speak his mind much or rely on other people. He just does his work and stays away from others. He had a big rivalary with Seifer going, and starts to have a liking for Rinoa, and tries to comfort her as his personality changes. As a child he was always looking for a person known as "Sis" and taught himself to rely on one person, himself. Thats why he's kinda unsocial. Cid later makes him the leader of Balamb Garden, and he tests his leadership skills. Encountering Laguna and others help him through everything.
Laguna Loire

Job:Soldier, Journalist, Monster Hunter, actor, president, you name it he does it.
Description-Laguna a kind hearted guy, and as a young man in the Galdia army, he served with his friends Kiros and Ward. Every night in Deiling City the 3 friends went to the hotel bar to watch Laguna's crush Julie play the piano. He finally ended up talking to her, but because of the war with Esthar, he couldn't be with her. After a fierce battle, he ended up seperated from his friends in Winhill. There he meet his lover Raine and her daughter Ellone, Kiros also finds him there later. Many events happen(and I don't want to spoil a lot)but he later goes out after Ellone is kidnapped and defeats Adel for trying to keep Ellone for her evil purposes. Because of his actions he becomes the president of Esthar, and meets Squall in real life. Through his life he's truely wanted to speak his mind and be a journalist.

Description:Rinoa is the daughter of Julie and Cariway, thats right the Julie that Laguna once loved. She is in the Timber Owls resistance group and meets Squall when SeeD is assigned to help the Owls. She once knew Seifer and did have a realationship with Seifer, but she falls in love with Squall, who is almost totally emotionless, so she has to change him.
She soon realizes that she has gotten Soccoress powers from Edea and Ultimecia, so thats a prolem of course.
Seifer Almasy

Description:Seifer is really a problem child, causing fights a lot. He is the only Garden student other then Squall with a gunblade, so he makes Squall his arch rival for glory and pride. He has a romantic dream, so to fullfil it he joins Edea and Ultimecia, calling himself a knight and challeging Squall where ever he can. Seifer eventually gets enough power that he can defeat the might Odin, but can he stop Squall?
Quistis Trere

Description:Quitis is one of students at the Balahab Garden, so smart that she's a teacher. The headmasters demoter her after feeling she is not the right kind of person to be teaching. She can get deperessed over minor things, but also is very observate. When the group was all young and at the orphanage, she acted like Squall's sister because of Ellone's absense. Sense none of them can remember the events she takes her feelings for Squall at Garden as love but soon finds what she was really feeling.
Zell Dincht

Description:Zell is a master at martial arts and took up this job mostly because of his grandpa who was famous for it. He is a very energetic(and at times annoying) person. Squall sometimes trusts him to take care of important things in the group. Zell also has a craving for the Garden hot dogs.
Selphie Tilmitt

Description:Selphie just transfered to the Balahab Garden, and is very excited about the festival. She starts writting a personal diary for all the students to see soon after joining. She becomes part of Squall's squad as a messeger, and stays with them since. She seems to always be happy about things and is even more annoying then Zell.
Irvine Kinneas

Description:Irvine is a top notch shooter and a womeanizer. He joins Squall's party in a mission to take out Edea and stays with them after that. Since he hasn't used GFs as much as the others did, he tells them about their life with each other as children. Irvine always dressed like a cowboy and has a crush on Selphie.

Description:Edea recieves her sorceress powers from another sorceress of course, and is eventually taken control of by Ultimecia. She starts out with the plan by using the Galabia government and recrutes Seifer as her knight. Eventually Rinoa gets the sorceress powers and Edea remembers her days are marton at the orphanage with all the others and joins them.

Description:Kiros and Ward have gone through a lot with Laguna. In the army they were all in a big fight and Ward lost his voice from an injury. After that they kinda get seperated, and Ward goes to work at a prison. Kiros later finds Laguna in Windhill and helps him out in his jobs. All 3 meet up again to rescue Ellone and stop Adel. Since they're such good friends, Laguna puts them in high government spots when he's president.

Description:Ellone is the daughter of Raine, and gets real close to Laguna when he's in Winhill. When she's kidnapped because of her powers Laguna goes out to save her. Because of her powers, she uses Squall's power to help Laguna, that part is pretty hard to explain. She was at the orphanage with Squall and everyone else, and she was very special to Squall, like a big sister.

Description:Fujin and Raijin are dumb but strong sidekicks, and do basically what Seifer does. Fuijin is a tomboy who speaks at the most of two word sentences, and Raijin ends every sentence with "ya know". They realize what Seifer is doing is pretty crazy, and finally tell him their thoughts.
Guardian Forces
In FF8 you can call upon creatures called GFs that aid you in battle, like Summoning monsters in FF7. Unlike FF7, you have to fight these GFs or complete a certain task before they help you. They become a major part of your junctioning in the game too.
Disc 1 GFs
Quezacotl
This bird of lightning can be found in the 1st disc right away in the game if you check Squall's class computer. It attacks witha furios thunder attack called Thunder Storm
Shiva
You get Shive the same way you get Quezacolt. She uses her ice attack Diamond Dust on enemies.
Ifrit
A mighty demon of fire, Squall can acquire him in his SeeD exam and Ifrit is the first boss of the game. He unleashes his Hell Fire attack on enemies when called upon
Siren
Siren can be drawn from the boss Elvoret in Dollet. When called upon she deals out an non-elemental attack on enemies that attempts to cast Silence on them too.
Brothers
The Brothers are in the Tomb of the Unknown King maze. You end up fighting Sacred first and then both of them at the same time later on. Their attack "Brotherly Love" is an earth based attack that doesn't work on flying creatures.
Diablos
Diablos lives in the magic lamp that Cid gives you, and if you use it from your item menu you end up fighting him. His attack called Dark Messenger is gravitational yet non-elemental, and works very well on Tonberries.
Carbuncle
You can draw Carbuncle from one of the 2 Iguions bosses that attack Rinoa. He's a strange GF, but a helpful one, for he casts Ruby Light which puts a Reflect spell on all your party members.
Disc 2 GFs
Leviathan
The serpent of water makes his return with his attack that washes away or damages his enemies. You can draw him from Norg when he accessibly from his pod.
Pandemona
Pandemona attacks with her wind elemental based attack called Tornado. You can draw her from Fujin in your first fight with her.
Cereberus
The demon dog of hell helps you by casting double and triple on all of your party members. You can find him in the main hall of the Galbadia Garden when it attacks.
Alexander
A holy castle machine, Alexander blasts his enemies with a holy attack. You can draw him from the fight with Edea at the Galbadia Garden.
Tonberry
NOTE:This battle is very hard in Disc 2, but this is when it's first accessible, so I'm listing it here, you may want to revist this.
Ok, the quest for this GF is totally annoying. Outside of the Centra Ruins there are a lot of things called Tomberrys. To get the Tomberry GF you have to beat the Tomberry King. To get the Tomberry King to appear, you have to go on a Tomberry rampage. Do battle with 18-25 Tomberrys. This is the hard part, since you can only fight one Tomberry at a time, and they are tough to beat, Diablos gets rid of them fast. Once you've killed enough Tomberrys the Tomberry King jumps into the fight, and he is much faster then normal Tomberrys and Diablos doesn't work as well on him. After you win the long fight he'll shrink to a regular Tomberry and join you. As a GF he attacks one enemy with Chef's Knife.
Note 2:Do this stuff after you do the Odin quest.
Disc 3 GFs
Doomtrain
Doomtrain is a runaway train that can cast abnormal statuses on enemies, even bosses! You can acceess him by finding the Solomon Ring at Tears Point as soon as you can, and then having 6 Malboro Tentacles, 6 Remedy+, and 6 Steel Pipes in your inventory. When you have these click on the Solomon Ring in your item menu.
Bahamut
The famous Final Fantasy Dragon is back as well as his Mega Flare attack. You can find him in the Under Water research center with the Ragnarok. only walk when the crystral in the center is not glowing to get to the..well...crystal in the center. Once there answer with the replies of "It's not our will to Fight","Never", and then chose the hidden option below all the others on the third answer to finally fight Bahamut. Hint:Cast Doomtrain as soon as possible.
Cactuar
OK this is a wierd FF tradition, but Cactuars are back, and there is a Jumbo Cactuar you can fight on a small Island if you have the Ragnarok. You'll see a cactus pop up and when you do run into it to fight him(it's no easy battle). After that you'll recieve the Cactuar GF with his attack 10,000(1,000 at start) Needles
Eden
The mother of all GFs, Eden is the strongest attack you can have in the game. You can draw him/her/it from the Ultimate weapon within the Underground Research Center after you beat Bahamut and go deeper into it(don't think this is an easy fight either).
Special GFs
Odin
Odin appears randomly at the beginning of regular battle after you get him. To obtain him, go to the Centra Ruins, there he will say you must climb the tower and defeat him within 20 minutes.
Phoenix
The Phoenix revives your party. If you have the Phoenix Pinion in your inventory, it'll work for sure. Once you use the Pinion once the Phoenix will randomly appear when you are KOed.
MiniMog, Boko the Chocobo, and Moomba
The Chocobo and Moomba attack your enemy when you use the Gysahal Green or Friendship items, the MiniMog restore's all your GF's HP when you use the Mog Amulet.
Gilgamesh
When something happens to Odin, the big man, Gilgamesh, takes charge. He works the same way as Odin but can come in the middle of a battle and during boss battle. He attacks with four different swords.
