Chapter 7

Fall 1996

A few months passed. The guys ended up staying in LA longer than expected. Taylor and Alyssa and Isaac and Beth were still going out. Isaac managed to visit Beth at least twice a week. Alyssa usually baby-sat the younger Hanson siblings during the day, while Isaac, Taylor, and Zac and their parents were at the recording studio, but she and Taylor always got time together after the guys got home.

It was now late October and the album was almost finished. Ike, Tay, and Zac had gotten back from the studio at four that afternoon, then did two hours of home-schooling, with Alyssa, who was also being home-schooled by their mom for the time being. Isaac had gone over to Beth's house. Joe had come over to play with the freshly turned eleven year old Zac, and Jake had come over to play with Jessica, Avery, and Mackenzie. Taylor and Alyssa had gone out onto the deck behind the house. They sat on the large wooden swing, swinging slowly. He had one of his arms wrapped tightly around her shoulders, while they both stared down at the beautiful lights of Hollywood. They were in a very peaceful silence, almost as if they could tell what the other was thinking.

Alyssa interrupted the silence. "Tay, do you think we'll still be going out when you're a big famous rock star?" She blurted out, instantly regretting it.

"Of course!" He looked hurt. " Why wouldn't we be?"

"Because, you'll be so busy, touring, doing promo, recording more records, and going to big rock star parties." He hugged her gently.

"You know that will never happen. I love you, and you'll be right here with me doing those things."

"Promise?"

"Promise."

That night Taylor had been tossing and turning and couldn't get any sleep. He thought about Alyssa and realized he promised her something he wasn't sure he could keep.
