"Now that we all know what Taylor is, let's play," Shannon said."
"Can we pick again?" begged Lori.
"No!" voiced Taylor and Steve. It was obvious that they were the killers.
"I think we should," Lindsey said, dropping her card on the counter. She didn't want to be a hider anyway.
Courtney collected the cards, so she could re-toss them. Taylor held on tightly to his. "Give me the card, Taylor," Courtney commanded. "Don't be a dork. It's only a game." He gave it up hesitantly. Courtney snatched it from his fingers and threw it up along with the other cards. Taylor watched the paper he knew was his fall and retrieved it from the floor. Unfolding it, he smiled in satisfaction. Killer again. Trying to keep a straight face, he dropped the paper on the counter.
"You got killer again, didn't you, Tay?" Lori guessed.
"No," Taylor answered innocently. "I got Hider."
Shannon flipped off the light abruptly. Everyone dove fro a hiding place. Immediately, she flooded the room with light. Her friends were all crouching in corners or on their way to a safe haven. "Don't do that," Steve yelled.
"Sorry, she said except she wasn't. The room went dark again, and Shannon began her own search for a victim since she was the other killer.
The room was hot, crowded, and frankly, it was very uncomfortable. No one could move without someone breathing down their neck. it made killer more fun, though, especially for the starstruck Hanson fans.
Jamie squatted between the papizan and footstool. On top of the footstool sat Steve, scrunched up into a tight ball. If someone were to watch the comical scene from above, they might mistake it for a mini high-crime city. Both killers felt along the ground and bodies for their desired victim. Innocent hiders squealed at any contact. Carefully sneaky detectives lurked in corners, keeping an eye out for any misconduct.
Shannon felt a tap on her back. "I'm the other killer," she whispered into the darkness.
"I know," responded Taylor who had tapped her. "I say we make a plan and team up."
"You know I can hear you two, right?" Nicole said to the killers.
"Runaway!" Zac hooted. He was crouched next to Shannon but jumped to his feet at the sound of her voice. Throwing open her bedroom door, Zac stepped inside the room for safety. Little did he remember that the window broke. Taking another step in his stocking feet, he felt a shard of glass pierce his flesh. "Ow!" he howled in pain.
"Zac!" Courtney yelled, more in annoyance than concern, "there's glass in there!"
"I know," he said, hobbling out on his good leg.
"Someone turn on the lights," Jamie commanded. Nicole felt along the wall for the lightswitch.
"Hurry up," whined Zac.
"I'm trying," Nicole whined right back. Finally, her hand brushed the smooth plastic, and she flipped the light on.
Zac was sitting on the ground, his foot lifted. Kim gazed at Zac's white sock. In the middle of his left foot was a bright red blood spot. It wasn't big, though, because he hadn't put any weight on it since the accident. "Is there a doctor in the house?"
Lori came over to inspect the wound. He pulled off his sock to let everyone see. "There's a piece of glass in there," Lori reported. "I'd need a tweezers to get it out." The cut was bigger than the sock made it look.
"Our tweezers are upstairs," Jamie told her.
"So are our bandaids," added Lindsey.
"We can't just leave it uncovered," insisted Lori, "the cut it huge."
"Why can't we use Kleenex?" Courtney suggested.
"Yeah, how is that going to stay on?" Shannon snapped.
After a moment of quiet contemplation, Kim answered, "With tape."
"Yeah, but the tape and Kleenex is in Shannon's room," Lindsey said.
"Well, someone has to get it!" Lori persisted, balancing Zac's heel in the palm of her hand. When no one offered, she said, "Fine, I will. Here, hold this." She handed Zac's foot to Nicole. Although she was not too fond of staring at the blood, Nicole enjoyed holding her favorite Hanson's cute little foot.
"No!" Taylor interjected. "You don't have any shoes on. If you go in there, you'll get hurt, too." After some more discussion, Isaac offered to give his shoes to Shannon to get the tape and Kleenex box. Upon returning, Lori folded up two tissues and wound the roll of duct tape around his foot a few times
"It's all good." Nicole, who was propping up the foot during the whole ordeal dropped it. Her hands felt like they were throbbing because she was so happy.
