"Should I play the radio or put in the Hanson CD?" Rebekah asked this question every time Katie slept over. And every time, Katie said, "I don't care." Rebekah usually ended up turning on the radio. But this time, it just seemed more appropriate to play the CD. She pushed play (the CD was already in the CD player) and "Thinking of You" filled the room. Katie and Rebekah started mouthing the words.
"I hope I dream about Hanson tonight," Rebekah said.
"Yeah. But even if we don't, we can just see them in the morning."
Rebekah grabbed a flashlight and aimed it above her bed, showing one of her many pictures of Hanson. She looked at this picture almost every night. The battery was going dead, so they were ready to see there "last look" if it went out.
"OK," Rebekah said, getting an idea, "I'll shine the light on somebody, and you say the first thing you think of about that person." Rebekah spun the flashlight around a few times and made it land on Zac.
Katie thought for a few seconds. "When I caught Zac behind the bush during "Kick the Can." Rebekah laughed, remembering.
"Yeah, you ruined our plan, though." accused Rebekah. She twirled the flashlight around again and shined it on Taylor.
Katie thought as she and Rebekah listened to “MMMBop.” "When Taylor was trying to listen in on our 'telephone' conversation at the park," she said with a smile. Rebekah silently moved the light to Isaac. Just as it fell on Ike's face, the light went out. Rebekah angrily shook the flashlight. When it came back on, she brought the light back to Isaac's face. "Um, when Ike was imitating an obsessed fan by the tree." Rebekah turned over and buried her face in her pillow so no one could hear her laughing.
"OK, now it's your turn," Katie said, taking the flashlight from Rebekah. Rebekah quickly thought ahead so she would be prepared no matter whom Katie would choose. She spun the flashlight and stopped it on Isaac.
Rebekah smiled. The first thing she thought of was something that happened when Katie wasn't around. "You were with Taylor, I think, when this happened. I was talking with Ike in the middle tree. I told him about how shy and unpopular I am or was. He seemed so surprised."
Katie was momentarily silent. Finally, she said, "Hmmm. Now Zac." She moved the light to him.
"When I was sneaking around in the garage with him. That was so fun."
"Yeah, I wasn't there either," Katie realized.
"Whoah, I never noticed that." Rebekah knew Taylor would be last, so she said, "And for Taylor, I honestly thought of when he saved you on your driveway when you were out of control on your rollerblades." They both smiled.
"Are you tired?" Katie asked Rebekah.
"Yeah, sort of."
"I am." They decided to call it a night. Rebekah left the CD player running so she and Katie could fall asleep to the sweet voices of Hanson.
Taylor suddenly sat up in his bed. He pushed the indiglo button on his watch and found it was almost midnight. He looked over at Zac and Isaac to find both of them asleep with smiling faces. "They're probably dreaming about Rebekah and Kristen," he thought slyly. He immediately pushed that out of his mind. He was turning into Rebekah and starting to match make. Taylor stepped over Zac's small mattress and opened the door. He decided to walk by Rebekah's room on his way to the bathroom. Actually, it wasn't on his way at all. He heard faint music coming from the room. "Poor Katie, she won't even speak his name...” He smiled. They were listening to the Hanson CD. What a funny part for him to walk in on, too. Taylor continued to the bathroom since he didn't hear them talking at all. He then returned to his bed and fell asleep just like his brothers—with a smile on his face.
