"Jack? Jack is dead my friend. Call me...Joker. And as you can see, I'm a lot happier!"

REAL NAME:Jack Napier

FIRST APPEARANCE:Batman #1 (1939) $50,000

Of all batman's advisaries, none compare to the Joker. Possibly the most famous comic book villian of all time, it is hard to think of Batman without the Joker springing to mind. The Joker is without a doubt the oldest, most persistant torn in Batman's side.

ORIGIN & HISTORY-Jack Napier, a petty criminal calling himself the Red Hood was in the process of robbing a chemical factory when Batman intervened. After a brief struggle, the Red Hood fell over the catwalk railing, plunging into a vat of chemicals. His helmet enabled him to breathe while submerged in the toxic chemicals, and the Hood swam to safety. When he removed his helmet, however, he was absolutley mortified by what he saw in the mirror. His face had become chalk white, his hair emerald green, and his lips were frozen in a ruby red grin. The shock of the ordeal destroyed Napier's sanity, and he became The Joker, the Clown Prince of Crime, obsessed with destroying Batman.
