Wisconsin Irish Northern Aid Past Speakers and Highlights

Christy Burke Spoke at Nash's Irish Castle November 23, 1998

Dublin City Councillor Christy Burke, a member of Sinn Fein, spoke at Nash's Irish Castle, 1328 West Lincoln Avenue, Milwaukee, on Monday, November 23, 1998. Cllr. Burke has been on the Dublin City Council for 12 years, and he was a member of the Sinn Fein delegation to the Forum for Peace and Reconciliation, which was formed after the 1994 IRA cessation. He has also stood for election as the Sinn Fein candidate for the Portadown area in the Six Counties in 1995 for the forum elections.

Cllr. Burke spoke about the following topics :

The current prospects of peace with justice in Northern Ireland;

The situation in Ireland in the wake of the Good Friday Agreement

What can we do here in the United States to promote the Irish peace process

January Monthly Meeting

The January 27, 1999 monthly meeting will be at the Irish Cultural and Heritage Center in Milwaukee at 7 PM. The meeting is open to all interested persons.

Regional Meeting - October 15 and 16, 1999

The Wisconsin chapter of Irish Northern Aid sponsored the Midwest Regional meeting in Milwaukee on October 15 and 16, 1999. The meeting took place at the Astor Hotel, 924 East Juneau Avenue, Milwaukee WI.

Fiday night, Milwaukee's Stack entertained at Nash's Irish Castle, 1328 West Lincoln, Milwaukee, at 9:30 pm.

The conference Saturday started at Noon, and ran until 5 pm. Dinner and music by The United Men followed.
