Here are some reviews that people wrote, after seeing a Gufs show and getting paid to do so!! =)
The Gufs
From the Journal Sentinel
July 03, 1999
The Gufs may have lost the title of Milwaukee's Next
Big Thing to Citizen King, but with a second overflow
show at Summerfest, the band has served notice that it
wants it back.

Matched against some big-name side-stage acts Friday
night, The Gufs took advantage of a decided home court
advantage at the Levi's L2 Rock Stage with Point
Special Beer and Lazer 103. Of course, that advantage
made things almost too easy.

Every dip, nod, strut, shrug or microphone caress by
lead singer Goran Kralj brought yips of excitement
from the screamy-boppers down front. The band is a bit
edgier in concert than on CD, which is a welcome
switch. But it also means some seriously catchy lyrics
can get lost amid the guitar-god poses.

At this point, the Gufs are still on the right side of
the side-stage/mainstage/oldies-act curve at
Summerfest. And climbing.

This one on the other hand...is a terrible review...read it..hate it with me..and then email the JS like I did!!! =P Don't worry, this guy doesn't know what he is talking about..THE GUFS LEFT ATLANTIC...THEY WEREN'T DROPPED..ok I said my peace! The Gufs From the Journal Sentinel Last Updated: July 1, 1999 Atlantic Records recently dropped The Gufs - news that produced about as many shock waves as the band did during its ill-promoted time on the major label. Nobody in the group referred to the loss during Thursday night's show at the Levi's L2 Rock Stage with Point Special Beer and Lazer 103. Instead, like a mainstream show-biz trouper, the quartet (occasionally augmented by a keyboardist) simply played its alterna-rock. The sort of stuff with potential appeal to any fan of Live, Smashing Pumpkins or dozens of other like-minded bands, the Gufs' music differed only in the illusory, breathy, childlike innocence of Goran Kralj's voice. There's plenty of that stuff around, and the Gufs' particular form of it blended inconspicuously: sour anger, effervescent balladry and churning pop of a piece with most post-Nirvana rock-radio staples. Perhaps Atlantic decided the market didn't need one more band like that. - Jon M. Gilbertson, special to the Journal Sentinel © Copyright 1999, Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. All rights reserved.
Here are some of the wonderful reviews from Gufs fans of the Summerfest shows!
I went to summerfest both thursday and friday and I
just want to thank the gufs for being so wonderful,
on stage and off, both nights. they are the sweetest,
most gracious people to talk to at autograph signings
and they really transport fans to a happier plane when
they play. i've only seen them for a total of 4 times
now, but now i will see them any chance i get. ;O)
it's amazing...the love between the stage and the
audience was actually palpable. i still haven't come
down from the high. i am utterly devoted. THANK YOU
FOR EVERYTHING!! :O)

Ok, it is 1:33 am..I just got home from summerfest and all I have to say is...THE GUFS ROCK!!! The show was great..they sounded great..everything was great. I had the best time! You might have even seen me, the crowd was very still in the middle of the bleachers and there was 3 people two guys and a girl just going crazy..that was me! =) But, anyway..the show was great even thought I did think that they should have played a little longer, there was still 15 min after their show, of summerfest time and I do remember the show in 1997 when they went over the midnight time limit and it was much easier to get out of summerfest. But, the show was incredible!! I am definatley going tomorrow to see them again. Have I mentioned how much the Gufs Rock!!! =) Go see them tomorrow...if you weren't sure..cause the show was great!!! =) **Laura**
Hey fellow goofs fans :) I just wanted to say the boys put on one hell of a show tonight (can i swear on here) hehe. Summerfest shows are truley the best shows and it seems like everyone had a blast. One question is how can they top it tomorrow night?? It will be tough. Another thing is alec the keyboard guy that came out for one song....i know him. True story i tell no lies...he used to play in this band with my sister (as if anyone cares) But he is awesome so if he ever reads this he will know how cool he is to play with the best band in the world :) I just wish it was my sister that was out there with the gufs...ahh maybe someday :) Umm now that my ears are almost done ringing i will put u all out of your misery and stop rambling on and on about nothing. Final thought: Gufs are awesome and that's all that needs to be said :) Till next time goofs fans. Erica j.
Here is a review for you of show #1 at summerfest!!!!! my best friend and i had seats on the first bleacher/bench right in front of goran... the whole concert was awesome! we especially liked the encore performance of ashes and the choice of playing come together too! the guys seemed right on the mark and put a lot of enthusiasm into the concert! my heart swelled with pride to see how many people were there, especially after reading other reviews from out of town where the audience was almost nonexistent. i hope that the guys had as much fun onstage as all of the fans had offstage. i can't wait for performance #2 now! i am sure that affter the great turnout on thursday, it will be even more packed and that is a great thing! the gufs are one of the few groups that i have seen in concert who put so much passion and feeling into their music and that truly care about their fans..... we're all glad that they call Milwaukee home!
Hey Mary, So hanging with the band was pretty cool before the show. I got a chance to talk with each member for quite a while. (The key pointer for tonight is to get back stage between 8 and 8:30, while the guys are still relaxed and able to socialize. After about 9:15, the put on their game face and are a lot less accessible)Everyone reiterated how happy they were to be back in Milw. The last month has been pretty brutal on their energy. They all seemed relaxed and relieved to be back with the fans who love them most. Goran was really up, and not at all nervous. Dan estimated the crowd at 8000+, and I'd have to agree. I watched from the wings for a few songs (awesome view only 15 feet from Scott), the headed out to a spot right in front of the mix board to check out the sound. The mix was great, with Goran's voice as clear as I've heard it since before Collide. They really had the crowd into it, and that fed their energy. After the show, Goran and Morgan played an acoustic set at The Vox. The crowd was pretty thick right up to bar time. They were having fun, real relaxed. Goran broke a string after about 6 or 7 songs, and that ended the mini show. Joe
I saw the show at summerfest tonight and boy it was great. I have seen them four other times but this one was the best, it was really emotional for me. There were soooo many fans out there supporting them tonight, it was packed. I saw silverchair on tuesday and the gufs drew more fan than they did! : Nrthnstar7
Mary, I also was listening to The Gufs on Lazer 103 Thursday night. What a tremendous show! I've seen The Gufs perform live 5 times, and they just keep getting better and better. I'm definitally going to the show Friday night. And their new music from "Holiday From You" just blows me away. I bought their new CD 2 months ago and I haven't taken it out of my CD player once in those 2 months. I absolutly love it. See you tonight at the show everyone...
