Token Review - Wil Of Fortune

If Wil Anderson had gazed through a crystal ball, he would not have foreseen a move to Sydney and a gig as host of Triple J's national breakfast show. The new town and the new job have given Wil a higher profile and new challenge, but it hasn't managed to quench his thirst for live stand-up.

The Chinese Year of the Snake sees Wil return to his first love. His new show, Wil of Fortune takes a look at fate and fortune, from tarot cards to good old-fashioned common sense and promises to be his snakiest show yet! There is good and evil in everything; Wil just needs to decide which side he's on.

Wil of Fortune is his sixth solo stand-up show (and the fifth time he's taken a punt on a pun for his show name). Wil's stand-up shows seamlessly range from the trivial to the surreal to the serious. His recent shows have taken their cue from the audience, often spinning out into improvisations that leave little time to actually do the show.

Wil has become a Melbourne Comedy Festival must see with shows such as Wilennium and Who Wants To Be A Wilionaire? In 1999 Will took Wilennium to the UK for his Edinburgh Fringe debut, picking up a nomination for the prestigious Perrier Best Newcomer Award.

After leaving journalism for stand up comedy, Wil quickly became a favourite on the highly competitive Melbourne pub scene. He has become a firm favourite on our TV screens with regular appearances on Good News Week and The Fat as well as co-hosting Triple J breakfast with Adam Spencer.

Living in Sydney means that Wil's trips home are now something of a rarity. This will most likely be his only Melbourne solo appearance for 2001.
