Dear Diary.....

David Glasper
(Just Seventeen Magazine) Life's been a bit hectic for Breathe's David Glasper recently- what with hair-raising incidents in cars and planes and chucking people into swimming pools. Andrew Fleming tunes into his week...

Monday

This has to be the most crazy week of my life! Found myself in Los Angeles this morning to do a personal appearance at this radio station thing. Although we used a backing track, I had to sing live vocals in front of the 20,000 crowd. The backing track busted halfway through the song, so amid much embarassment I had to do an unaccompanied version of Hands to Heaven. All the other bands were terrified going on after us though, because of the disaster. Ha!

Tonight Spike, Marcus and I went to this radio party thing, where all the big cheeses in the radio world gather. Unfortunately we got rather sloshed and met up with the boss of the only radio station which didn't play our song, so Spike pushed him into the swimming pool! Thought it was about time we left at that point, so we quietly slid out of the party and went to our hotel.

Tuesday

Had to go to the airport this morning to fly back to Britain. Got into the car and was driving quite happily when I got involved in a smash somehow. This guy pulled out when he shouldn't have and banged into me, and I went flying into a wall! Next thing I knew I was in this hospital, although I wasn't hurt. I kept saying, "No, listen, I've got a flight to catch!" Eventually I got in touch with Marcus and Spike, and they came to collect me at the hospital.

Finally arrived at the airport a bit late, and found no tickets! Not what I needed. Eventually, after loads of calls here and there, we managed to get on the flight and everything was fine. The flight wasn't bad, until it came to the landing. The captain came on the intercom and said the undercarriage thing wouldn't come down, and basically it was a bit impossible to land on one wheel. Not what I wanted to know. Circled the airport for hours until they decided what to do, and eventually landed in one piece.

Managed to get home hours after we were all expected. I was so glad to be home.

Wednesday

Went into our record company to do some interviews this morning, and then off to rehearsals for a tour that's coming up. The studio is unbearably hot, like a sauna. A guy arrived to cut our hair this afternoon and it was so hot that I just couldn't keep still. He got a bit cheesed off and started hacking my head to bits! After the hair was done, this girl who does styling came to advise us about what clothes to wear.

Meeting this evening with the guy who did our last video. We chatted about what we want our Jonah video to look like and we ended up with a few good ideas. A few drinks after that, then home to bed.

Thursday

Had a choreography lesson this morning which was hilarious. I mean I'm not Michael Jackson at the best of times, so you can imagine what that was like. It was in a studio at Covent Garden and my teacher was a bloke named Bruno. Every movement he did looked really funky. I had to look in the mirror at myself dancing, and I can tell you I was not impressed! I stretched out my arms and Bruno said, "No, no! You look like a bleedin' albatross!"

Had to do a telephone interview with this American radio station today- they had this competition where they ask you to sing down the phone. They then played it and asked listeners to guess who it was. I sang Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer which was completely bonkers!

Had the mickey taken out of me the rest of the night by the other people who were in the room when I was doing the interview.

Friday

Another dance thing this morning, and I did a set routine today! Fun, fun, fun!!! Rehearsal again in the afternoon.

Spike and I decided to go out on our mountain bikes this afternoon, but when I went to get them from out the back, mine had gone!

Somehow someone managed to climb over this huge wall and nick it. It's insured and everything, but it was still a pain. Got a cab to a market nearby instead, driven by a complete madman. He kept driving on the wrong side of the road at a horrendous speed. He missed a bike courier by inches.

Went out in the evening with Spike and Marcus, and some fans followed us in our car. Had a chat with them, and they still followed us when we went to the pub for a drink. Then we trotted off for a meal and they still followed us, so we decided to take them to dinner. I ended up paying for the whole lot of us!

Saturday

Day off today, so I got up, messed around for awhile and then went to the Portobello Road market for a browse around. It was really good, just looking at the bric-a-brac and all the strange people. I love it! Went to this Malaysian restaurant for some really great food.

Back to the flat after that, to do some work on our little porta-studio. Later on, we all went clubbing - I mean we're not Bros, so we can go out clubbing! I like the idea of everyone not knowing who I am. Had a good dance - the lessions are coming in handy - and crashed out about four in the morning.

Sunday

Surfaced just in time for EastEnders. I've missed loads of it, though, with being away and things. If I'm abroad my parents record it for me, but I never find time to watch the videos. I'm so begind! I think I'm still at when the Dagmar burned down, with Den looking seedy. That's a good couple of months ago.

We're all extremely lazy when it comes to cooking and we're the world's worst cooks anyway, so we trotted off to the supermarket to buy a few cans of food. After buying them no one could be bothered opening them so we went to McDonald's round the corner and scoffed rather a lot. Friends came round when we got back, which was nice 'cause we never get a chance to see friends much these days. A nice end to a manic week, although I've still not recovered yet...

Love and cuddles,
David
