I think that Hayes book was very well written, you can tell she would be a goodauthor, if she would do it full-time. This book is comparable towards the best book I’veever read, actually the best non-fiction book I’ve ever read! I jotted down some of thereasons why I like this book so much, and it’s not just because I’m an atheist.
When I first started to read this book it was partly because I wanted to use it for a term paper, on the morality of the Christian faith; which is covered in this book quite well. Since I was going to use quotes in this book I decided to highlight the main parts for my paper and for debates I sometimes get into with close-minded Christians. Well the point of this story is that you would have to use an entire case of highlighters to get all the main points the book makes. It isn’t redundant like many other books I’ve read, mainly Christian books because they don’t have much to write about and they just repeat everything. I love this book for that reason, everything is logically, technically, and historically correct.
Even if you don’t want to read this entire book, which isn’t much more than 200 pages, I think I would have bought it if I knew about a 2 page list in this book. It’s Judith Hayes’ Bible Murder List; it has every murder committed by god or by gods orders in the bible. Just for the exact numbers listed I counted almost 2 million murders by god, and that’s a lot considering the world only started 6,000 years ago!! But that was only the numbers where the exact number was listed, there were a lot where it just said “the town of...”, or “the ...ites (Hitites, Cananites, ect...)”, and of course you can’t forget the entire population of the world besides Noah, his wife, sons, and there wives.
I think this is an awesome book, it isn’t written like a Christian book and is really straight up facts (although their are a lot of facts in this book!), it uses plenty of humor and sarcasm. I like this because you can actually enjoy reading the book instead of just scouring it for words to make fun of Christians, which I recommend this book for it that is what you want to do. Any ways I think you should hit the back button and click on “But This Book!” because you should do just that. And if you can’t order it from Amazon.com you should go to EvolveFish, which is where I bought it.
