Valentines Day Ideas

Valentine Pouch Boxes

Print out one of the patterns below on cardstock to create a box you can color and fill with a treat for your valentine.
Just cut on the solid lines and score with the back of a butter knife on the dotten lines and fold. They will end up looking like a McDonald's pie box.
Pattern 1 - Bee
Pattern 2 - Butterfly
Pattern 3 - Hearts
Pattern 4 - Jesus Loves You

Candy Cane Hearts

Place candy canes on a cookie sheet facing eachother to form a heart. Melt in oven on low heat.

Valentine Message Cookies (red fortune cookies)

Ingredients:
4 eggs
1/2 cup melted butter
1/2 cup rice flour
3/4 cup sugar
pinch of salt
2 tablespoons water
red food coloring

Directions:
Write Valentine messages on small pieces of paper. Preheat oven to 350. Grease a baking sheet. Separate the egg whites from the yolks. Beat the egg whites for several minutes until they stand up in points. Stir in the rice flour, sugar and salt. Beat the mixture well for about 2 minutes. Add the melted butter and water, then beat everything together until the mixture is like thin cream. Add food coloring. Put spoonfuls of the mixture on the baking sheet leaving plenty of room between them. Bake for 8 minutes or until the edges are turning brown. Lift one at a time of the cookie tray. Working as quickly as you can, put a message in the center and fold in half and curl it. (like a fortune cookie) If the cookies start to harden, put them back in the oven for a minute.

Vern and Vicky Valentine (story)

For this story you will need to make two hearts with one red side and one black side. You will also need to make hat's, a tie and a mustache.

Vicky and Vern Valentine are brother and sister, and just about your age. Their favorite past time is playing. They make a game out of everything they can.

As they ride their bikes to school they pretend they are galloping horses racing across the prairie. When they walk, they pretend they are on a safari in the heart of Africa. When they play in their pool they pretend they are swimming across the ocean. But one of the best pretend games they like is pretending to be someone else.

Vern likes to put on his daddy's hat (add mustache, hat, and tie) and tie, and a funny cotton mustache. Then he pretends he is going to church and be the preacher.

Vicky loves to put on her mother's hat, (add hat and ribbon) and bright ribbon and pretend she is the Sunday School teacher.

With all their pretending, they didn't fool themselves, nor did they fool the Lord.

Oh, yes, they did go to Sunday School. They did learn the verses. They did listen. THey did win prizes, but they have never taken the Lord as their Saviour. They pretend they are Christians. (remove clothing from hearts)

But when they were tucked in their beds at night, with the lights out, and alone with their thoughts, they didn't pretend. They knew they were lost, and often cried in their sleep. (turn hearts over to show black side)

One day in sunday School, the teacher talked about foolishness. How you fool your friends, your parents, your teachers, but you don't fool yourself, nor do you fool God. Vicky looked at Vern, and he looked at her.......and suddenly they realized they were being foolish. They were tired of pretending to be Christians. That day they both accepted the Lord as Saviour.

Vern still pretends he is a preacher (add clothing again), but now he has a real message. Vicky still pretends she is a Sunday School Teacher (add clothing), but now she can teach things she knows are true in her heart.

Are you a pretender? Oh, it is all right to pretend and play games, but when you pretend you are a Christianm, that is foolishness. You can't play at that. You must receive the Lord Jesus Christ in your heart so that He can become your Saviour.

Mail boxes

At home, we used to get small mail boxes for all the family members and put small gifts or valentines in them every so often during the week of Valentines Day. (You can also make your own out of shoe boxes wrapped in white paper and decorated with stickers and such)
