In 1994 Jim joined Morora, a progressive/fusion band formed by drummer Bernd Hettenkofer, bassist Helle Perkuhn, and engineer Richard Schestak at the Free Energy Studio in Augsburg, Germany. This marked the first time that the lead instrumentalist of the group was a keyboardist. Since Jim's sojourn in Europe was limited, the band developed and recorded only a few songs including "Alpine Pass," "Dream at Midnight," and the ambitious (and unfinished) Tolkienesque epic, "The Strange Meadow," which features Hettenkofer's electronic percussion. They also put a number of improvisational sessions on tape. After failing to find a vocalist for the group, Jim hazarded the lead vocal position temporarily. Bernd, Helle and Jim also auditioned a cornucopia of local guitarists, but could never find the right one. Morora continues to make music under the guidance of Hettenkofer, who has written many compositions on the guitar and the keyboard. Perkuhn plays bass guitar in Doctor Wu, a cover band based in Augsburg.
