DIVULGE

"So I'm just supposed to sit here and spill my deepest, darkest secrets?"

"Yes."

"Ah, okay."

Thus begins the saga of the never-ending battle of good over evil. Of sticker over keychain. Of video over single. I am here to tell you things I am too ashamed to even say to my own reflection.

*takes deep breath*

Yes, I am a teenybopper.

It all began one fateful day, last year. I drove home after work, cursing the radio station for cutting my favorite song short and playing some song with an old fogey crooning "everybody" to an old organ. And whooh, in an instant, the beat began. And as hard as I tried to remain angry, my head began to nod with the beat.

Who are these guys? I asked myself in wonder. Picturing old men singing "Am I sexual?" I continued my merry way home.

When I settled on the couch with my glass of Pepsi and Oreos [umm... the Oreos were outside the glass], I turned on the telly to have me some MTV. Total Request Live came on... and what video should happen to be playing? Yep, you guessed right my compadre. BSB in full glory: a cute werewolf, a dancing mummy, some guy with half his face blown off, another guy with half his face all weird looking... and of course, the debonair Count Dracula.

And I was hooked. Who was the strange... stranger with his long, curly hair and cute smile? Could I please be that girl he is biting?

It came like a plague, overwhelming my every thought. Oh the humanity... the insanity.

So, now that the drama's over, here are some strange things I've done that might very well label me "FANATIC-extraordinnaire" or "borderline psychotic":

- I have five tapes full of their t.v. appearances.

- I've begged my sister to tape the BSB whenever I had to go to work.

- I have four of their videos [including the very first one, with the green cover].

- I made my sisters into fanatics as well.

- I know almost every line to every song... and sing them whenever I get the chance.

- I actually bought a few teenybopper magazines because they had BSB on the cover.

- Thanks to me, my mother now knows who each Backstreet Boy is and who is related to whom [I'm still working on my dad though].

- I have my finger on the BSB pulse... any news and rumors, I've heard it. [or at least, I like to think I do].

- I post on three separate BSB message boards [alt.fan.backstreet.boys being one of them].

- I have four of their albums [the red cover one, the self-titled one, Backstreet's Back, and Millennium] and am actually contemplating on ordering one from Asia because they have a 40-pg booklet or something like that.

- I have written fanfics. And my rationalization for this is that I like to write. One look at my personal site [http://pinkinkinc.cjb.net] and you'll see what I mean.

- I have actually thought up of an idea for the video "Show Me The Meaning of Being Lonely" and in my humble opinion, it is very good [not so humble after all, eh?].

- and heck, I made this website, didn't I?

Have I made you feel good about yourself yet with my pathetic ways? Good. Now go, for I need to be alone with my thoughts.
