A Moment Of Your Time
This (along with "Pardon Me", "You Still Love Me", and "I Reach to You O Lord") were written at Chicago Congress 2001. Some of them were written at about 4-5am....others, during the dance. They are a series of poems I feel all lead into one another...kinda the whole doubting, questioning, wondering, coming full circle to realization, acceptance, peace and love. =)
Excuse me please, may I have a moment
I'm not asking for an hour, but five minutes
I feel that we're friends and can you please spare
Just A moment of your time for me?
I have some things I need to vent about
Don't think 5 minutes will figure anything out
Maybe you have an hour or two free
And we can sit and talk, just you and me.
Right at the moment, I feel so lost
Thought my life might change, those plans were tossed
Not this year, they said to me
So I'm still a captive wanting to be set free.
I wanted this for years
And the time just now felt right
Yet now I hold back tears
And dream wishful dreams at night
I don't know what I'll do know
Should I try again
All the who, what, where, when, why, and how
If rejected again, could I handle the pain?
This felt so right, yet turned out so wrong
Guess God's saying, "now the timing's not right
I will give you a chance to use your gift of song
And I will help you get through the nights."
You are my friend, and I thank you
For taking the time when I needed you
You've been there for me when others haven't
And for that I will always be grateful.
What the future holds
Only God knows
Maybe we'll still be friends down the road
But, like I said, only God really knows.
I will treasure our friendship all the days that I live
I just wish that for you, I had more to give
I pray we remain friends for many years more
Now let us look for another God-Opened door.
