My High School Profile

Here's My High School Profile up to when I decided to go to MATC.
Have fun!!
HI!! My name is Erin. I'm 18 and a GRADUATE of Madison East High in Madison, WI. This is one of my first webpages, so please bear with me.
My interests include music, school, church, and sports.

Let me start with MUSIC. I'm in 2 choirs at school. I'm in Women's Chorus, and Concert Choir. I've been in Women's choir for 3 years, and this is my first year in Concert. I was thrilled to have made it into C.C. It's an audition only group. I've also been in Orchestra. I started playing the Cello in 4th grade, and continued to play through 9th grade. During that time, I was in WYSO(Wisconsin Youth Symphony Orchestra) in the Concert Orchestra. I don't play the Cello anymore, but I think that I could still pick it up again if I really wanted to. I have also been in my church choir since 7th grade. I wasn't well recieved by many members, because you're sopposed to be confirmed before you join(confirmation is 9th grade). I also am a member of my church's Hand Bell choir. I was immediatly accepted in this group, and even conducted Bells for a few months during Easter. I love to sing, as you may have noticed. I also play the piano a bit. I 'm not great, but I play well enough. I also have a guitar. I haven't learned how to play yet, but I'm going to learn.

School. Seems odd that I like it doesn't it?? Well I do. I feel that it's a privilage to be able to get an education. I feel sorry for the kids who go to my school who don't care. They'll never be able to make it. I have some really great teachers. My Earth-Sci teacher is cool. He's also the Boy's Track coach, so we talk about that. My Choir director is cool too. She's really enthusiastic, and loves all her students. I'll say that while I'm thrilled to be a Senior(and recently a GRADUATE), I'm going to miss many of the people at East. It's been a great 4 years. GO GOLDERS!! EAST SIDE!!!! I do plan on going to college. I am going to attend MATC(Madsion Area Tech College) in the fall. I don't think I'm quite ready for a 4-year out-of-state school just yet. I plan to enroll at MATC in their College Parallel programm so I can take care of my required credits. I also would like to do Captive Free Youth Encounter bands for a few years.

Church. This is the main point of my life. I go to Lakeview Lutheran Church on Madison's North-East side. I've been going there since I was 6 or 7. I was in Confirmation(7th grade actually) when I was asked to be on our Pastoral Call Committee. I said sure, nothing to loose. Well I really enjoyed it. The adults treated me with respect, and actually listened to my comments. Also that year I joined the Youth Committee. There weren't too many people on it, and they were trying to jump start a virtually dead program. When I went through Confirmation we never went on retreats, never to bible camps. We never did anything fun. When I joined the Youth Committee it was just because. I didn't have a real reason. Anyway... in December 1996, I was asked to become the Youth Committee Chairperson. I said sure. This ment I was on Church Council. This meant that I could make a differance in the church overall. I'm happy to say that through 1997 I NEVER missed a meeting. Also in October 1997, I got to do devotions for Council. I was a bit frightened. I decided to play a song. I chose "Listening". It's a song written by Lloyd Garrelts, who is a member of the group Echelon, whom I'll talk more about later). The Council really loved it. I was able to connect the lyrics with confirmation. I'm starting my 2nd year on Council. I hope to still be around in the fall. =)

Sports. Well I play sports. I play softball, and track, and volleyball. First softball. I've been playing softball since I was 5. I played it every summer, and played it my Freshman and Sophomore years at East. I didn't play last year for East, nor will I play this year. I felt that the coaches played favorites, they do, so I said Good-Bye. I still play during the summer and still love it. Then last year I decided to try track and field. I decided, with help from my friends, to do shot and disc. It was a real tough transition. I had no clue as to how to throw. I'll just say that once I figured it out, I was good. In my first meet I threw Varsity. I didn't place, but I broke my PR(personal record). I threw basically JV. I did throw at JV City Outdoor and got FIRST for shot, I also set my PR at 29'9''. I also threw at JV Conferance and placed 5th and 6th in Disc(PR 81'1'' from the mid 50' range I been at all year) and shot. I also got to throw at Regionals. This was an honor partly cause it was my first year. I didn't place, but the experiance was great. This year, I was thrilled... I was a VARSITY Thrower!! NO half-time or when someone can't throw!! I was thrilled to compete in City Indoor!! I placed 4th in the City for Shot Put, and I pr'd with a throw of 30'1''!!!!! I also threw at the TFA Invite this year, Couger Relays, Waukesha Invite, City Outdoor, Conferance, and Regionals. I threw LOUSY in Disc this year...I don't know why, but I LOVE Shot better. Through the year, I placed second in many of the meets in the first half of the season for Shot, and occasionally placed in Disc. I met some COOL Throwers from other schools.... There's Mary from West: A Senior, and a really great person...we spent a lot of time talking at meets...There was also Jenny from Beloit... T'was COOL. I also FINALLY got my letter!!! I wated for 4 long years for it and got it!!! =) Me HAPPY!!! Volleyball. I just play this for fun. I've played it at lock-in's for 2-3 hours, and at partys. I usually come away with bruises on my arms but I have a lot of fun.

Well I forgot to mention FRIENDS. I don't have a lot, but here they are:(if I missed any of you out there, PLEASE tell me and I'll add you's K'ay!!)
Jenny Marty: She's cool. We've really become friends this year cause we're both in the same choirs. She's also going to come with my church to some Youth Quakes and Congresses. I'm glad that we've become friends.
Heather Schmidt: I've known her since 7th grade. We became friends, and share interests in music, religion, and having fun. She recently transfered to a different school, and I haven't talked to here recently. She's a really great singer.
Johanna Meyer: We've become friends in Earth-Sci. She's really funny. I kid her about being a cheerleader sometimes. We've been lab partners all semester. I'll miss her when I graduate.
Kirsten Torgerson: Well we go to the same church. We are the only 2 people to have gone to ALL the Youth Quakes since our church started going. We both LOVE Echelon. We have become friends, but not all that close. She's pretty cool for a FRESHMAN. =)
Erica Pilot: We've been friends since Kindergarten. She's one year older than me. When I was in 8th grade she moved to Ashland, WI. I haven't seen her since my freshman year, but I still think about her and miss her a whole lot. She was one of my first best friends and I'll always remember her.

Well that's about all I've got right now....I'll update this when things happen..so you'll know..
