Mulder starts dreaming of a normal life as he disappears from the hospital after our favorite smokings man visits Mulder. Scully is on the clock trying to find a way to help Mulder. Kristchgau comes up with a theory that the alien spaceship had an energy that had reactivated the oil virus back in him, but not taking over him but becoming apart of him just like Gibson Praise.

Mulder still dreaming and he imagines Deep Throat leading Mulder onto the life of domestic bliss. Scully meets up with old friend Albert Hosteen (who is dead) and gives Scully spiritual advice. They pray together as Scully loses hope of ever finding and curing Mulder.

In Mulder's dream world everything is good, he's married to Fowl Fowley and has two children. But after a few scenes it leads to him dying, in his bed..

Kristchgau finds out that Mulder has biologically turned into an alien and The Smoking Man wants it. While Mulder is dreaming, you see him and the smoking man on an operating table as Diana starts to regret it.

Krycek kills Kristchgau has Scully receives a book with a card key in it. She knows it from Diana and she runs to a surgically facillity. In Mulder's dream world, Mulder is about to give up and "die" but Scully yells at him that he is a traitor and is pathetic. He fights and wakes up and Scully drags him out of there.

Scully checks on Mulder as he seems just like the same old Mulder. Mulder tells that Albert is dead but Scully is in shock, she was visited by him only a few days ago. Scully then admits that Diana was killed, but Mulder doesn't care and takes her in his arms. "You are my touchstone" "And you are mine too"
