Happy O l d Year |
|
We say "Happy New Year" when we know that we can't control the events or circumstances of the New Year. It's easier to say "Happy Old Year" or "Tough Year", so why do we have to insisit on telling people to have a "Happy New Year" when it may be the worst the person has ever had. Isn't saying "Happy New Year" kinda setting them up for a big fall, when their year turns sour. We know how the current year has been, so why prepair others to be disappointed with the New Year. They look at the New Year with hope and energy, when others know that it will be a wash out year. I know there's all this hope thing, but let's be realistic. The New Year will be filled with death and tragedy of all kind, floods to earthquakes. Plus famines galore.
When someone tells me "Happy New Year", I will reply "Happy Old Year".
