Little Nash Rambler

This is the documentation of the restoration of my newly purchased vehicle. It's a 1962 Rambler Station Wagon built by American Motors Company. Special features on this vehicle include working power windows, A/C, and tinted glass. It has a push-button automatic transmission.

My dad and I are going to spend most of the summer restoring it. It needs work and we're trying to decide if we want to try and restore it to original or supe it up into a hotrod.

Some of the pictures are for my documentation so that's why some of them are kind of obscure. Like pictures of doors! Check out the pictures!

7/20/02: At this point, I haven't done anything very significant on the car. I've managed to remove most of the interior- seats, trim, etc... and some of the exterior- head/taillights, grill, some trim. There are certain things I would like to leave alone, like the material on the ceiling, because it's in good condition. Unfortunately, I can't remove things like the luggage rack without taking that off to figure out how everything is put together. Though, duh, I do have a manual that will tell me how. Considering this car is supposed to be mine and my dad's, I seem to be doing most of the work. Occasionally he'll stroll up to the farm and tell me I should do this or that or be careful with this and so on. The only thing he helped do was take out a seat I think. I guess we could consider him an investor. He is the one investing the money into this without doing the work to see a finished product in the end. And after all, it's my car since we had an agreement that if he didn't fix my closet by the end of May, then I get the car. Big surprise, I still don't have a closet! I'll try to remember to take some pictures of the car as I go along.

8/21/02: Well, this is kinda a random update but I thought I would say what is happening with the car right now. What's happening? Nothing. I spent a good portion of time stripping the car down this summer. Dad came up once or twice to observe. I think he got a couple bolts loose that I couldn't get and he bought me some tools. Other than that, Dad has done no actual work on the car. Its been all me. I have most of the interior and exterior stripped out. The seats are out, the panelling is gone, the luggage rack is also off. Headlights, taillights, chrome, etc... I took everything off that would come off. The only problems I'm running into are with the doors because I don't have a special tool needed to take the door handles off and also with the dash because the bolts are being very stubborn and won't come out. I'm not allowed to remove any windows or engine parts without Dad's supervision, so I'm worried that it will never get done. I'll try and take some pictures when I'm up at the farm one of these days!
