The Patchwork Pillow of Broken Hearts was originally the title of a tape I wrote for my now-ex, for when we broke up. It was about how miserable I was without her, and what a piece of shit I was. Am?
Anyway. Of all the tapes I've recorded of myself, this one had the most cohesion, the most feeling, and it was the fastest one I've ever recorded. From start to finish it took me only two weeks to record it. Normally it takes me months to finish a tape I start, basically because I just fart around with it as the mood takes me.
The mood overall of the work on that tape stuck with me, and so this one notebook (yep, all that tape is trying to keep the first song from falling out), as it began to fill itself through the years with similar pieces and ranting, came to be, to me, another part of the Patchwork Pillow.
