Golf is not a Fucking sport!
I don't care who you are or what you might think one of the underlying principles to all sports is that if an 80 year old can play in the same league as a 20 year and keep competitive it does not fucking qualify. Allow me to lay it all out for you nice and simple, there are certain requirements that a game needs to fulfill in order to cross the barrier into sports. The first and most important is the physical requirement Sports must be physically demanding look at the four main sports Hockey, Football, Basketball, and baseball. All four of these sports are very physical in nature, besides simply needing players to be in good shape they need to be able to endure constant activity without tiring. Golf has the one physical component of swinging which does not even come close to being difficult enough to qualify. This portion of the game is very similar to the swinging in baseball except since the ball is stationary it is considerably easier. Because of baseball's long periods of inaction on the part of the players I have been in consideration of stripping it of its sport status for a while now so how could golf stand a chance. Even tee-ball has running and catching and you give up playing that when your a little kid. Face it golf is about a quarter a challenging as tee-ball and there is nobody out there claiming that it's a sport.
The second requirement for being a sport is the need for all of the players to have a wide range of skills in addition to their physical abilities. In hockey you need to be able to shoot, skate, pass, and goal tend if that's your position. Baseball requires throwing, catching, swinging, and running. Football has the need for many skills but they change drastically for each different position. Basketball demands running, stealing, shooting, and passing. All four of these sports also require the ability to think and react to what is happening very quickly (not quite as much in baseball as the others though.) And golf has what? Aim! If you can make the ball go where you want it to you have what it takes to go pro. This is a very difficult thing to do, I've tried it, I can't but it still isn't quite enough, but just for the sake of argument lets say that golf does meet this requirement since it can be argued that it does.
The third and final requirement for being a sport is direct opposition. This is a very simple concept whenever you try to get a goal or score points or whatever the point of the game happens to be there MUST be someone trying to stop you. In golf you aren't even allowed to talk to your opponent when he's swinging. After laying out all of these points I would hope that there is nobody out there who still thinks golf is a sport, but since there probably is I just want to ask them how the fuck is golf a sport? I've explained in fairly good detail how it isn't now just give me one example of how golf is a sport and I'll shut up forever, about this, so long as I agree that your point makes any sense.
