The Girls Trip to Ireland

The girls and I decided to go driving tonight. For those who don't know, the girls are Dianna, Faith, and I. We decided to take a page out of the book of Will, Robert, and Austin and find some hole in the wall to drive to. We stopped to get munchies be c ause we were just going to do random driving but instead decided on this course. We bought a map, filled the car with a full tank of gas, and then sat looking at the map for someplace to go. Dianna picked some off the wall place, but faith and I had bot h seen the same one....IRELAND! So we get the directions off the map and then head out. We got first to Copperas Cove and then out to Gatesville and then end up on some creepy back roads were for 45 min we saw no one. There were weird signs like Cow Cro s sing signs and cool creek names. We kept going just kinda laughing about it all until we reach a sign that says Ireland Cemetery and points off to the left. That's how we realized we were in Ireland. Two cars passed us right after we got into the e tow n . Those were the first cars we had seen since Gatesville. We drove through town and noticed some odd things. The historical markers that faith suggested probably pointed out the hanging trees back in the woods. The old run down store with Ireland writ t en on the side and the lack of life are just some. We went all the way through town. We had planned to stop and get a camera to take pictures, but there wasn't even a gas station. We turned around on the road and headed back. We counted 12 total build i ngs and one had a light on in the attic. I thought it looked like the house from Psycho. We drove back through town and then back into Gatesville. From there we went back a different way. We took Highway 36 out past our friend's house and then back to t he Belton Dam and back into Killeen. We were going down 36 though and this crazy guy in a monster truck with floodlights started tailgating us. When cars would pass on the other side of the road, he would back off and then speed back up. We were really starting to freak out. Then we saw our exit and figured that it was ok. We got off and the truck followed us. Then down the road it turned a uie in the middle of the road and went back. That was just a LITTLE bit freaky. The rest of the trip home was uneventful but when we got back we decided we would go back to Ireland and take pictures (this time during the day unless we've got guys with us. We are wimps). We also decided that driving around like this is a lot of fun and we are going to do it more often. =)
