My first memories of GerkVille (pronounced jerk-vill for those wondering.)are of my mother taking me down to the corner store to purchase a horse whip. Of course, at the time I was but a young impressionable boy . I remember taking in the sites of the town and thinking to myself how much I liked lollypops. The town obviously lacking a lollypop distributor at the time. Many of the towns older and more knowledgeable residents may remember when the lollypop distributor was opened on the corner of Wogga Rd and Colt St. Some of you may also remember how it was tragically burnt down a day later. The smell of melted lollypops didn’t leave the town for two months.
As the time passed the town gained residents. Shops became to bloom and sprout, releasing seeds and making tiny more smaller shops. Clouds were regularly spotted in the sky, including several cumulus sitings. More and more people appeared and eventually GerkVille had its very own community centre and government representatives. It looked like the town was beginning to go somewhere.
Eventually the town got it’s first celebrity. Some of you may have seen the young Robbie Macgregor rise up from his cardboard box in Crychek park and grace our screens on the hip new show Australian Idol. He was well known for his wholesome afro and his reign lasted until a particularly feisty hairdresser cut off his locks revealing the hideous and malformed creature underneath. Of course the producers kicked him off as he did not fit the socially acceptable standard of the show.
The years may have trundled slowly past but as I have watched this town ,through my dirt covered blinds I have realised that this is where I fit in.. I think of GerkVille as a well proportioned man. Once youve had him you can never turn back.
Anyway I hope you enjoy this site and hope the boys down at GerkVille tech do a good job.
