The bull and the cow were important symbols in celtic kingdoms.
The bull was a symbol of strength, ferocity and verility.
The cow was a symbol of agricultural abundance and ferility.
The Roman god Jupiter was sometimes represented by a bull
and when the Romans conquered the celtic kingdoms of Gaul
the celts there adopted the symbols of Jupiter to
represent their own sky/solar god.
The Solar god was the deity who made the Earth mother
fertile; he also was the lord over the living during
the day and the lord and the light of the Land of the Dead
at night.

The ram horned snake was a celtic symbol of fertility and healing.Standing stones
were used by the celts as grave or territory markers but often seem to be connected
with ancient phallic worship. The sun of coarse is a powerful fertility symbol also.

Three Ram horned snakes, would make good page divider, header or footer on a web page I think

In Germanic mythology, Loki the god of mischief, had three children by a giantess; one was a great wolf,
the other a goddess both dead and alive, the third was giant serpent. The gods cast the snake into the
ocean, where it grew so large that it filled the sea, and it lay on the bottom of the ocean with its
tail in its mouth. Jormundgand shall slay Thor the Thunderer in the last battle between the forces of
light and dark, Ragnarok.

Cernunnos, The Horned One, was one of the most important(if not THE most important) gods of the celtic
world, is a god of fertility and is an aspect of the solar god.He is often shown in the company of
animals (especially the stag) in a forest setting ,so is sometimes called the Lord of Animals or the Lord
of the Forest. Usually he is shown sitting crosslegged (like Buddha) wearing a torc (symbol of power or
divinity) and with symbols of fertility like the stag or ram horned snake. He is the consort of the Great Mother
,who is born when days are shortest and the power of darkness greatest (Winter soltice) but is victorious over
darkness, and so begins the new year with life and hope. The first fruits of his rebirth are the newly born lambs
which are born at Imbolc (1st Febuary, Bridgets Day), a day sacred to the Mother.
He is said to be wedded to the Mother at Beltaine(1st May) when the powers of the earth are at their greatest
and all things are growing, then he is slain at the time of the first harvest (1st August, Lughnasadh) as the
barley and wheat are cut down. Then after the last of the fruits are harvested , and the Horned God is thanked
for his sacrifice, the time of darkness begins again (Samhain , night of 31st October - 1st November).
In his form as the grain god who is slain and reborn he is like the Egyptian god Osiris (as the celtic Goddess
Dana is similar to the Egytian Great Mother Isis). -FinnO

Not a mythological character as such, but is a powerful work of the
imagination of the great horror writer H.P. Lovecraft, who created
a mythos of beings that lived on the earth billions of years ago
and fought other races long before the coming of man.

The alien priest, of the terrible Other Gods, Cthulhu, has lain
sleeping in his house in drowned land of R'lyeth. Hundreds of
feet tall, body humanoid but also draconic, with many tentacles on
his face. Powerfully telepathic, his dreams sometimes cause madness
in mortals.

Danu (Dana) was one of the names of the celtic mother goddess. The river Danube was named after
her because of its great size. Dana was the wife of the god Bilé(Belenus), the god of the dead in
irish mythology and the irish race of gods ,the Tuatha De Danann(the people of the goddess Dana), were
decended from these two.Mother goddess were protectors of territory, they gave might to armies in
battle, and also served goddesses of death and fertility. In fact the Mother can be regarded
as the female aspect of the deity whos male aspect is the Sun god. Earth mother and her son the
Sun are so interwined they could be regarded as two faces of one power. The Goddess was often
depicted in triple form because three was a sacred number and multiplication of an image
by three increased its power by the same amount.
