It's the time when you look at where you've been
And see that you've been nowhere.
It's the time when you look at where you're going
And see nothing for your future.
It's the time when your dreams are big
And your hopes are small.
It's the time when you wish for a better tomorrow
But don't believe you'll get it.
It's the time you're searching for love
But don't know what real love is.
It's the time when you're looking for belonging
But really don't want to belong.
It's the time when you're dying to go forward
But scared to let go of the past.
It's the time when you want to be independent
But you're too scared to be alone.
It's the time when you struggle to keep up with the world
But really don't want to be like the world.
It's the time when you need love
But look around and see only hate.
It's the time when you don't want to be "mama's little baby"
But deep down you want your mama to baby you.
It's the time when nothing goes the way you want it
But you really don't know how you want it.
It's the time when you need people the most
And it's the time you trust people the least.
It's the time you want to be free to choose
But don't really know what you'd choose.
It's the time you search for answers
And find only more questions.
It's the time you want everyone to know you're struggling
But you're scared to admit weakness.
It's the time when you feel completely alone
But you're sick of having people around all the time.
It's the time when you're trying to find yourself
But scared of what you'll find.
It's the time when you long to be a child again
But you work hard at becoming an adult.
It's the time when frustration is an everyday thing
And happiness is only a memory.
It's the time that feels like it will last forever
But will last only a short while.
