Mineral
And now, if anyone is interested...
Jadeite is a gem-quality silicate mineral in the pyroxene family; one of the two forms of jade. Compared to jade's
other form, nephrite (also known as mutton-fat jade), jadeite (imperial jade) is more precious, has granular fracture
and glassy lustre. The most common colors of jadeite are white, emerald green, apple green, red, brown, and blue.
Jadeite is a fairly rare mineral; its presence in some area is usually a sign of a great uplift of earlier buried
regions and erosion. It's commonly found near Tawmaw & Myanmar (Burma); Omi & Kotaki (Japan); Motagua
River valley (Guatemala); San Benito county, California; Mexico, Celebes & New Guinea.
Long ago, jadeite was among the holy minerals in the Eastern culture (along with nephrite); it was widely used in art.
