Episode 3 begins with some confessionals.
Al: "Somebody's gonna bite the dust tonight. I don't care which one of them bites the dust. I know they don't care if I do. Whatever goes down, goes down."
Katie: "I don't want to go home. I feel more into this game than I have ever been. I want to keep going."
Dorothy: "I think right now I can't worry about the team getting money. I need to worry about lasting in this game."
Elavia: "It's a game, people. Hello? Game? Why are you not enjoying yourselves?"
A new day dawns in St. Moritz. As the twelve and the host eat breakfast, they miss something right in front of their noses.
A journal, not unlike the players' own, is in the center of the table, but it has no number.
Al grabs it, after being prompted by Anderson.
Al: "It takes the host to remind us that there's something in front of you folks that you're not looking at! I see this journal - no number on it, I pick it up. I open up the page, I start to read the front page there, and I get scared."
He begins to read "Top Secret! Property of the Mole! If found, destroy and do not read. That means you!"
Rob yanks the journal right from his hands(suggesting along with Patrick that they actually do destroy it), seconds later to hand it to Dorothy.
Dorothy reads further: Round One: Executed Player-Bob It was almost too easy. He may have hit the bullseye, but he was way off target. If only he'd spent less time shmoozing the ladies and more time paying attention. When will they ever learn? Round Two: Executed Player-Ali Her drink cost them. Drowning her sorrows over Bob's execution. Well, she joins her buddy now. Hope the rest get serious. Round Three: To-Do List Sabotage the pot, pit one against the other, put a chill down their spine, make them beg.
He tells them to pick a number between one and eleven. They choose four. He tells them to rotate their journals four people to the left.
No one is very happy about it, but they all comply.
These are now their journals. They can keep them and write in them as their own.
Heather: "I actually wrote a lot in the journal. I think I'm one of the few that really expressed everything I was feeling and everything I was thinking."
Al: "Every journal I passed that went from my hand to someone else's hand, I felt sicker and sicker as I watched mine just float away. Those are my thoughts, going to somebody else."Elavia: "When the journals got switched, I really felt sorry for Patrick. Because he's just been keeping like these copius amounts of notes and, like, all this information, and his face just went red."
Patrick: "At the moment that I switched journals, and I know mine is going to Katie, that's the only thing I could focus on at the moment. I feel like I've opened up my soul to somebody. And that's something in this game that I would never want to do."
Katie: "He didn't want anybody - people were asking him 'Can I read your journal?', and he's like 'No.' I know this was a crushing blow for him. But it would be silly for me not to look through it. It really would be."
Anderson tells them that they may not damage the journals or trade them back, but other than that, they are theirs like their own.
At that moment, a waiter comes in carrying on a dish an envelope with the familiar green thumbprint logo. Inside are their instructions, which are to choose one trustworthy player, who must use only the enclosed photographs to find and retreive a green envelope.
Slowly, the group decides on Myra, since she "knows the language a little bit".
Anderson looks at his watch and tells Myra she has one hour. When he says now, Myra throws out "See ya!" and is off.
She takes the pictures to the front desk of the hotel, and the clerk gives her basic directions to the place pictured. Gradually, as she gets closer, Myra gets more detailed directions until she finds the envelope and successfully brings it back to the dining room where the other eleven players and Anderson still sit.
Anderson reads it: "Neutralizer. This card grants you the ability to neutralize one of your fellow players. Once neutralized, the player cannot receive any exemptions in this round of the game. Neutralizing a player will add $10,000 to the pot."
Because Myra was chosen, she has the choice of who to neutralize.
She says they've had 3 people who have already had exemptions.
Heather: "None of us want either Elavia, Dorothy, or Lisa to get an exemption. They've already had one."
Myra narrows it down to those three. Darwin nominates Dorothy.
Someone else nominates Lisa. Myra says the first one to be seconded will get it.
Lisa: "As Myra determined the three people who would be neutralized and would not be eligible for an exemption, all I was thinking was 'Pick Dorothy! Pick Dorothy! Pick Dorothy! Don't pick me'."
Bribs seconds the nomination of Dorothy.
Myra chooses to neutralize Dorothy, making her exempt from exemptions.
NEUTRALIZER - +$10,000 TOTAL - $66,000
Dorothy: "I can't believe Darwin and Bribs nominating me for the neutralizer. So rude! I'm going to remember this!"
The players now have time to react to the switched journals.
Darwin: "I got Al's journal. But he didn't seem happy about that at all."
Myra: "This was Katie's journal."Katie: "I had no problems with Myra getting my journal. But I asked her to cross out the nasty words I had written. And she said she had done that."
In their room, Elavia calls Katie on calling someone (I'm guessing Elavia herself)a bitch in her journal. Katie neither denies nor confirms it.
Elavia: "If she doesn't like me, that's fine. It doesn't affect me. Because she's not my friend, she's not my family, she's not someone I'm going to spend time with."
Katie denies to Elavia reading Patrick's journal.
Katie: "I don't want Elavia to know that I actually am looking through it. I talked with Heather, and I told her I would give her some information out of it. His "Maybe Mole" list is Darwin, he crossed out Elavia, which I find interesting, Dorothy and Bribs."
Elavia has Rob's journal.
Elavia: "Actually, what's really shocking about this book is Rob, he didn't take any notes!" "He has this section which is like, the Mole Observations, and then he has this - he just has me in there! Which I thought was really hysterical. Especially the last part, 'cuz he was like 'She winked at me,' so all day yesterday, I was like, just winking at him."
Rob: "The first thought that crossed my mind when we switched journals was 'Good thing I didn't write too much in mine."
Bill: "This journal is Heather's journal. She circled: Elavia, Bob, Darwin, Elavia, Bill. And so, obviously, she does like all the rest of us. At any given moment, she thinks somebody else might be the Mole."
Heather: "Beacause I was so expressive and so many people weren't expressive in their journals, I think it's also a cause for suspicion, and I know if I got something with blatant information, I would be a little bit leery of trusting that information because you are so concerned with conspiracy and manipulation and deception."
Lisa: "This is Bill's journal. Assuming he's not the Mole, it's very poignant and honest. It's written sort of as a letter to his wife. As I read it, suddenly there will be you know, I feel like I'm eavesdropping."Dorothy: "This is my new journal, and this was Elavia's journal. Elavia had come up with what she thought would be potential Mole profiles. One if the Mole was a male and the other if the Mole was a female. I think it's quite amusing to note that I am one of her suspects, because my appeal. I'm not overly attractive!" "I think Lisa is a terrific ally. We seem to have similar ways of observing and thinking, but I think our personalities are different enough that we'll be able to make the most of working together."

Lisa: "If she's not the Mole, then she has a lot of traits that I do not have, and we can play well with each other. If she is the Mole, I think and I trust myself to sort of be able to recognize that and keep her sort of in a little place in the game and work on getting rid of other people."
Darwin: "Lisa said that she didn't think Dorothy was the Mole. And she also said that Dorothy had approached her about a coalition, and she hadn't committed yet. And I told her to go ahead, because all the information I can find out about Dorothy would be helpful as well."
Lisa: "I really hope that Darwin doesn't know that I have a coalition with Dorothy, and that Dorothy doesn't know that I have a coalition with Darwin. That could be bad."
The twelve meet Anderson out in the woods. He tells them to select one player who is good at matchmaking. Within seconds, Al volunteers.
Anderson is feeling sorry for them. They are not making the big bucks he thought they would. All they have to is cross a bridge of two logs across a pond. Each player that makes it across earns $5,000 for the pot. There is, of course, a catch. You all remember the story of Robin Hood meeting Little John on the bridge and having to fight him?
Well, they have their own Little John, and he brought a friend: Little Jane.

Obviously, neither is little.
Al: "I'm looking at this beautiful mountain range and one of them starts moving towards me. And I said 'This guy, this isn't a mountain, this is a man!' And I said 'Oh, boy, this is really going to be interesting now.'"
He must decide which player will battle which "little" combatant. Each player who crosses the bridge earns money for the pot and a spot in a second round to earn an exemption.
Al crosses the bridge immediately and without combat, so he is automatically into the exemption round.
The catch to Al's selections is that at least three players must battle the behemoth Little John.
Lisa goes first, and she is matched against Little Jane. Lisa carefully edges out to the center of the bridge. She(as are all the players and the "little" opponents) is armed with an American Gladiators style weapon: a club with giant pads on either side.
After a few swings, Lisa successfully turns Little Jane over and she falls in the water. Lisa is able to cross the bridge.
Al: "Whap whap whap! Lisa bangs her, knocks her out of the way, and and comes across, and I'm saying 'Giddy up, man, bring on the bucks, 'cuz this could be okay.'"
Patrick is next, and gets the enormous Little John. He puts up a good fight, but after a few strokes Patrick is gulping in pond water.
Heather goes next, to be opposed by Little Jane. Heather walks out to the center, trips and doubles over, and falls off almost without being touched.
Lisa: "Heather had told a couple of us she used to be a gymnast. I think that Heather, who loves the balance beam, should have been able to stand on a log that's twice the width of the balance beam. She fell off without being touched."
Bill is next, and for him Al selects Little Jane. Bill actually overpowers Little Jane and sends her into the pond. He is able to cross the bridge.
Little Dorothy will be facing Little John!
Dorothy: "Little John is a man approximately five times my height and weight, and looking at him is like looking at the Incredible Hulk coming at you!"
Al: "I'm feeling terrible as I see Dorothy come up there. You know, she can't see anything. She's like Mr. Magoo without her glasses. She's barely on the logs. She's, like, making out shapes, you know, trying to swing at the mountains." "Dorothy is neutralized. She's a sacrificial lamb."
Needless to say, Little John barely has to move to defeat Dorothy.
Rob vs. Little Jane is next. Rob hits first. Little Jane stands her ground, and by doing so Rob bounces right off of her and into the water.
Myra follows against Little Jane. Little Jane breaks the rules by hitting Myra in the head, so she is allowed to cross the bridge uncontested.
Al: "You're not supposed to hit in the head. Little Jane takes a swing and hits her right in the head, and she broke the rules, so Myra gets to cross, I'm thinking 'Beautiful!'"
Little Jane must bounce right back to face Bribs. Bribs charges full speed ahead to the other side where Little Jane has hardly taken a step, and on the first shot knocks her off the bridge.
Next is Elavia, who also gets Little Jane.

Elavia puts up little offense and seems more than prepared to nose dive into the pond.
Only Katie and Darwin remain, and one must face the undefeated Little John.
Darwin is next.
Al: "Do I want Darwin to come across here and battle me for the exemption? Or, do I have Darwin go through, you know, Little Jane, have a better shot at beating Little Jane, more of a guarante of putting money in the pot, and sacrificing Katie?"
He chooses to send Darwin up against Little Jane. After a good fifteen seconds exchanging blows, both Darwin and Little Jane lose their balance. Little Jane falls in the water, while Darwin has the presence of mind to retreat to the starting side of the bridge. Since he did not touch the water, he is allowed to cross the bridge.
Al: "Poor Katie. I have no other choice but to call out the big man, Little John." "Katie, all the blood dropped out...dead white. I felt horrible about it, but I had to make a decision there."
Lastly, Katie is meat for Little John. She is confident at the start, but falls after only 2 hits from the little man.
TEST PASSED - +$25,000 TOTAL - $91,000
The five who made it across will now battle each other in the exemption round. Al will again make matches. Whoever is the last person standing will take on Al for the exemption.
Al: "Everybody seems to want this exemption when they come along. Everybody's putting themselves before the team."
Lisa: "At this point of the game an exemption is huge."
When isn't it?
First off, it's Darwin vs. Bribs.
Al: "The two that are most like me are Darwin and Bribs. So I think to myself, 'I'm going to need to get rid of one of these two first,' so I put them out there and get rid of one initially."
Darwin defeats Bribs with strength.
The next match is Bill vs. Darwin. Al: "I decide to send Bill up against Darwin If he wins again, he's going to be even more tired. I want to tire out the strongest person in succession, that's my strategy."
He does not tire him, but eliminates him as Bill throws Darwin into the water.
Darwin: "I tell you this, I hit that guy and he didn't move one inch."
Bill and Lisa are next.
Myra: "Obviously, he wanted to weed out the big boys, which he did. So then it was between Bill and Lisa. I'm sure he was thinking he could take either one of those."
Bill out-muscles Lisa as well.
The last competitor is Myra, who meets a similar fate against Bill.
Bill: "I disliked going up against Lisa and Myra, more than you can ever imagine. I didn't want to hit them, I sure as the devil didn't want to lose to them, but I didn't want to hit them!"
It's down to Bill vs. Al for the exemption.
Al: "I see Bill still standing at the end and I think 'Oh, boy, I gotta go against the big man now.' He's big-he's strong. I don't care how old he is."
They meet on center bridge, and successfully knock each other in at the same time.
Al: "If both fall into the water, then it's considered a draw and you have to go up and do it again."
They go again, and Al wins the exemption.
Al: "I was just thrilled that I had been able to beat him. It wasn't even about the exemption I had won. I was just glad to be able to beat him."
Bill: "Several of us had been watching Anderson all day, and he was entirely too dry. We went in way out, and he did have a dry spot on his sleeve, and I was sorry about that."
The players gang up and push him into the pond. Darwin tells him that was for the burn bags.
Lisa: "I loved the Little John game. It was a good chance to get out some aggressions, without taking out a member of the team." "I'm not really concerned about Al as a particularly strong player. I don't mind that he'll be here for another round of play. In fact, I like it."
At a spa, the players enjoy some R & R.
Once they all gather together, Anderson explains a stipulation of Al's exemption. He has a second exemption, one to give away. He cannot announce until the dinner before the next quiz(to be the next night) who he is giving the exemption to.
As expected, most of the players suck up huge.
Dorothy: "In the Mole's journal, it said 'Make them beg,' and I'm sure everyone's going to do just that."
Al: "It's a psychological game. You don't notice it until the first game hits you. Boy does it hit you. It's like a slap in the face. It's not as easy as you thought."
Darwin: "First person talking to Al was Patrick! You know, whatever. I guess it's smart I guess to get in there."
Myra: "I had 140 francs but there wasn't much I could do with that as far as persuading him."
At the lunch the next afternoon, the players begin to share(at the behest of the producer I'm sure), to open up about their biggest fears.
In the hotel before the execution, Bribs and Heather discuss how they don't want to form coalitions.
Heather: "Katie and I, we like decided the first day that we were going to form a coalition. I've considered pulling Bribs into our coaltion, sort of making a team out of it." "Trying to convince Al that I deserve the exemption is probably like shooting myself in the foot. I think he's already made up his mind."
Al breaks up their discussion. Heather tells Al how she won't suck up to him for the exemption, assuming he has already made up his mind.
At the dinner table, Anderson asks the players who they'd give an exemption to, if they had one to give away.Darwin says he'd give it to who he thought was the Mole. Heather would give it to the weakest player. Bribs would give it to a friend.
With dessert comes decision time. Al reveals his criteria for deciding. He's put a lot of thought into it. His initial thought was Bill. But Bill told him not to give him the exemption, since he wanted to earn any exemption he got, so Al won't give it to him.
Bill: "I lost very fairly to Al yesterday in the finals. I did not earn the exemption, I sure as hell did not want to be given an exemption."
Darwin: "You know, I thought Bill was full of it when he went up to him and said 'Don't give me the exemption. BecauseI want to earn my exemption.' He was setting it up to seem more honorable than he probably is. And it just smelled funny to me. I didn't believe it."
Al is of the opinion that this particular game favored the men. No man here will get an exemption. Dorothy is ineligible to get an exemption. Elavia and Lisa have both already earned exemptions, so they won't get a second exemption. Myra was in the exemption tourney, so she is out.
That one's chicken shit as far as I'm concerned.
Heather and Katie. Heather got Little Jane, Katie got Little John. Heather's opportunity to win was greater, so Katie gets the exemption.
Elavia: "Al was king for a day. I mean, he definitely did right for the group, and he did right for himself."
Anderson toasts Al for an excellent job making a hard decision.
Al: "Katie's probably not the Mole, she's probably the weakest player here. It helps to keep her around too. So it works out twice for me."
Excuse me while I wretch.
With that, it is time for the quiz.
1. During the Little John/Little Jane game, whom did the Mole face?
Bill: "Heather, yesterday, she got knocked off the log without ever getting hit. Little Jane says 'Boo!' and she jumped in."
2. Does the Mole have a tattoo?
3. What is the Mole's greatest fear?
Elavia: "What's pointing the finger to Dorothy is that she's just...quiet. Not overly quiet, just kinda sits back in the shadows. She's very smart."
4. What is the Mole's new journal number?
Lisa: "It can't be a good feeling to be executed. Tonight'd be particularly bad, since yesterday was the last day I could get my job back."
5. What is the Mole's Zodiac sign?
Elavia: "You know what? If Al is the Mole, he deserves an Academy Award."6. How many times did the Mole battle during the Little John/Little Jane game?
Dorothy: "I think Elavia could be the Mole because she just has that Mole-like look. Very mysterious, with the arched eyebrow."
7. What color booties was the Mole wearing in the Little John/Little Jane game?
Heather: "Myra could definitely be the Mole. She's got me extremely worried because she's so good about not revealing too much, but revealing just enough."
8. The Mole went swimming at which hotel?
Bill: "Right now, it's a crapshoot. Anyone who says they know who the Mole is is absolutely blowing smoke."
9. What is the Mole's marital status?
10. Who is the Mole?
Now it is time for the execution. Anderson Cooper informs us that on this quiz there was a tie for the fewest correct answers, so the slowest player will be eliminated.
Click on the pictures below. If a green thumbprint appears, that player is still in the game. If a red thumbprint appears, that player has been executed and must leave the game immediately.
Al and Katie are not at risk.
The remaining eleven players(and most of the internet world) are noticeably shocked at who is executed.
Who is definitely NOT the Mole: Myra, Patrick, Rob.
Who may very well be the Mole: Katie, Dorothy, Bribs.
