Just so you know, I only archive rants that I think are worthwhile.
Now, the weekend news. As I write this, Judgement Day is going on, so I'll have resukts at about 11.
This stuff was taken off TheShooters.net, Wrestlingobserver.com and Prowrestlingtorch.com
The WWF's reality show Tough Enough starring Al Snow, Tazz and Jacky as trainers debuts on MTV June 21. It'll kinda be like Survivor. While we can't see it here in Canada, it's important, as the female and male winners get WWF developmental deals.
I wonder what the wrestlers think about that? Especially ones who had to work so hard to get noticed.
Also, the Godfather is contemplating retirement. He'll get no argument from me. While he was entertaining as the Godfather, he's hardly a good wrestler. I wish him well however if he chooses to retire.
Dave Meltzer says there is still no definite plans for King of the Ring. I would guess that would have to do with Shawn Michaels not returning, as the WWF usually has things planned in advance.
An example would be July's P.P.V. Invasion, which will probably involve something involving W.C.W. I doubt it will be an entire card of crossover matches, probably just 1 or at most 2. My best guess would be a match involving Shane and a W.C.W. star against Vince and a W.W.F. star, probably with some stipulation.
Results from Metal are Haku, X-Factor and Billy Gunn winning squashes, while Jerry Lynn beat Esse Rios in a good match. Feel bad for X-Factor. They have talent and should be having more of an impact.
RESULTS FROM JUDGEMENT DAY- I didn't watch the show, this is taken from torch and observer
HEAT
RAVEN DEFEATS VAL VENIS- It's hinted that Val wants out of RTC
HOLLYS D. KAIENTAI- Decent Match, wish Kaientai would win once in a while, they're a fresh, entertaining act
PPV
REGAL D. RIKISHI- Short, probably due to Rikishi's injury. Stinkface during match
ANGLE D. BENOIT- 2 falls to 1
1. Benoit pins Angle with Olympic Slam
2. Angle makes Benoit tap to Ankle Lock
3. Angle climbs ladder to retrieve medals, after Edge and Christian interfere
By all accounts, a good match
Jerry Lynn gave a promo, saying essentially that he deserves more recognition.
RHYNO D. BIG SHOW AND TEST in a THREE WAY DANCE
Rhyno gored the Big Show for the win
CHYNA D. LITA
Clean win, more teasing of a Chyna turn during the match. Guerrero watched the last few minutes.
KANE D. HHH- New Intercontinental Champ
HHH bled during the match. Botched Austin interference ended the match
TAG TEAM TURMOIL
APA D. RADICALZ
APA D. DUDLEYZ- HOLLYS interfere
X-FACTOR D. APA- Albert interferes
X-FACTOR D. HARDYZ- Albert interferes
JERICHO AND BENOIT D. X-FACTOR- Double Tap out
JERICHO AND BENOIT D. EDGE AND CHRISTIAN- Christian taps out to Benoit.
AUSTIN D. TAKER
During the match, Austin put through a table, plenty of chairs. HHH hits Taker with a sledgehammer to win the match. However, Austin mistakenly hit Vince with a chair.
From reviews, it appears that it was a decent, not spectacular P.P.V.
The next month of T.V. is important, as ratings are slipping. If they can get back some audience, the upcoming W.C.W. angle can carry them back to solid ratrings. The Rock's return is another big event coming up.
Now, judging from the P.P.V., here's a possibility of where we're headed. It's how I would book it anyway.
Jericho and Benoit beat Austin and HHH for the tag titles on Raw, teasing further dissention in the group.
Then, at King of the Ring, a 4 way between HHH, Austin, Jericho and Benoit for the title.
Austin wins, barely, as HHH aimed for him and missed, setting up the pinfall.
Hopefully, the Rock is available to come back around this time. He and Shane come in, with Shane announcing the Rock has signed with W.C.W.
Rock and Shane face Vince and Austin at Invasion, with the stips that if Rock wins, he gets a title shot, if Vince wins, The Rock works for the W.W.F.
This leads to a SummerSlam match, where Rock beats Austin for the title.
All these failures cause HHH and Austin to break up and fight each other.
It's a fun scenario, who knows, maybe it will play out.
Anyway, predicting a KOTR card is tough, since the tournament takes up a lot of time and plays havoc with my card.
Possible matchups are the 4 way I discussed, Kane vs. Angle for the I.C., Chyna vs. Lita again, Hollys vs. Dudleyz, X-Factor vs. Hardyz
The tournament will probably screw some of these up. Right now, I can't predict a winner, maybe when the brackets are finalized.
I had heard that Benoit was supposed to win, but I'll hope the 4 way will take place.
Anyway, hopefully, T.V. will be more entertaining this month.
I'll be back tomorrow, with news and Raw Results.
