Orgy's first album was industrial-inflected synth rock of the Nine Inch Nails and Marilyn Manson variety--a non-stop assault of pounding drums, jackhammer guitars, and buzzing synths, all heavily processed. This sophomore effort is essentially more of the same, albeit with comic book sci-fi pretensions and a dollop of old-fashioned psychedelia added to the mix.
Lyrically, what Orgy delivers is the sameheartwarming mix of angst, misogyny, and pseudo-profound philosophical navel-gazing that's been the standard for adolescent outsider rock since Black Sabbath. However, here it's tricked up with contemporary references (bisexuality, digital dreams, etc). In other words, high-tech trappings notwithstanding, these guys are still dorks in the grand tradition, and God bless 'em for the wonderful work they're doing.
