The Matrix

Plot wise, The Matrix is The Odyssey. However, in order to understand why a readjustment as to the characters. Neo is Telemachus while Morpheus is Odysseus. Morpheus seeks to restore human supremacy, seeks to return to the time when humans ruled the earth. Neo is simply trying to figure out what is going on. Also, The Matrix is Neo’s coming of age story, with his training focused on. Unlike Morpheus, and very like Telemachus, Neo never really figures out what is going on. He relies on external forces. There is the prophet, albeit now a woman and called the Oracle. She delivers doleful messages. Her room is filled with possibilities, those who might become great. What are the Greek heroes but those who were great? Their death had freed them from the fetters of the world. This is what has happened to the children, they now know that no laws apply any longer. They continue their life with the knowledge that nothing is the same. There is the malevolent presence of the computers that play with Morpheus’s fate until Neo breaks out to save him. The malevolent presence has much the same feel as Poseidon, determined to prevent Odysseus or Morpheus’s crew from reaching its destination, and knowing that he is doomed to failure.
