"Put down that chain saw and listen to me, it's time for you to join in the fight," I serenade my turtle friends as I prepare tea for Turtle Ninja, Venus, Leonardo and Donatello.
"It's time for mothers let their babies grow up to be cowboys, it's time to let the bed bugs bite," I continue singing as I bring the tea out and Michelangelo joins in the singing.
"Ugh, HLM, Mikey, enough with the Weird Al," Raphael groans, before taking a swig of beer.
I stop singing and pretend to look hurt.
"You don't like my singing? Oh, I'm hurt...just...crushed. I'll take this as a sign that you don't want to hear my rendition of "Polka Your Eyes Out"?" I say, attempting to look innocent.
Raph gets up and puts an arm around my shoulders, "I...don't think so...and the innocent look don't work fer ya."
"Harumph!" Is my rebuttle, and I grin, elbowing Raph in his plastron covered ribs, "So, when d'you wanna pick out those curtains?"
"Huh?!?" That really shut HIM up.
Everyone else laughs as Leo stands.
"Well, before anyone gets in any trouble, we should really get going," he says.
"Aw, so soon?" I ask, not really wanting my friends to leave yet.
"HLM, we've been here for four hours already," Don comments.
"Well, true...see you guys later?" I ask.
"Hai," TN answers, "we are just around the corner...and down below a bit.
I chuckle, hugging them all, "Thanks for coming over guys, drop by any time."
"We will remember that, my friend," Venus says, hugging me.
"Sure thing, and be careful out there! Yeah, like I really need to tell a bunch of ninja that," they chuckle, and I go on with my train of thought, "I mean, the FOH are out and looking for any mutants...specially any connected to this happy little moron."
I've had several run ins with the FOH, no few in which someone had died. The FOH are still out and gunning for me apparently.
FOH stands for "Friends Of Humanity" and are really just a group of bigots who believe that mutants are a threat to human kind, and they all must be killed in order to save the world as we know it or some BS like that. I don't totally understand it.
"Don't worry, dudette! Like you said, we're ninja, we'll be ok!" Mikey said, giving me a bear hug.
I chuckle, hugging back and then waving to them as they leave, disappearing as soon as they're out of the building.
I start cleaning up the mess that usually occurs after having the turtles over. Tea cups, beer and soda cans, popcorn, pizza, popcorn pizza, that sort of stuff when I look up, hearing the sound of glass shattering.
What I see is a brick lying in the remains of one of my windows.
"What the hell?" I voice my thought as I start to step forward to pick the brick up, but I stop. Seeing some odd energies as my neon green pupiled eyes glow slightly.
"Oh Sh...!" I don't get to finish the word as I
try vainly to manafest the bomb away, finding it somehow shielded. I dive away.
Not fast enough, though, as I feel the shrapnel and fire throw me into the
opposite wall, sharp objects piercing my body, fire burning my back.
I groan, pushing myself up from the floor.
"K'so....if my ribs could have been broken, they would have," I mutter, looking around, eyes glowing brightly.
"Shimatta!" I curse as more bombs are thrown through the windows.
I bolt out of my apartment as it blows up behind me.
Holding back tears, I sprint down the hallway, rooms on both sides of me blow up. I reach the elevator and skid around the corner as a shaft of flame blow the doors apart and me into the wall I was next to. I was held there, agonizingly helpless for a few moments, before it stops and I slump to the floor, semiconscious.
"Oh my god..HLM!" I hear TN shout as I'm lifted up in muscular arms.
"Uh..?" I utter, looking up at whoever is holding me.
"Don' worry, HLM, I got cha," Raph whispers, holding me close as he and the rest leap down the stairs.
About a quarter of the way down, fire starts raging its way down after us.
"Damn! Haul ass, guys!" Leo shouts.
"Shoulda brought the marshmellows," Mike comments as the speed doubles.
"We're almost to the door!" Don shouts, adding another burst of speed.
We're just out the door when there's suddenly another massive explosion threw us all forward like rag dolls, my being torn from Raph's arms.
There are miraculously no new injuries to the turtles as they roll to lessen the force of their fall. I try to roll, but end up falling flat on my painfully exposed back.
The force of the explosion sends me skidding a few inches until I stop, losing a few layers of skin.
I will myself to a sitting position.
What I see forces tears from my totally black, neon pupiled eyes.
The building I had lived in for years was burning, collapsing in on itself.
Suddenly
I hear screams of pain and rage. It took me a moment to realize that the person
screaming is...me.
