I really enjoy working with leather. It is such a dynamic material,
and is constantly reminding me that it is alive. No two pieces of
leather are the same, regardless of the animal it came from or
the tanning process used, there is still the character of the particular piece, just like a fingerprint, the animal lives on in the crafted leather.
Because of this feature, no two pieces of my work can be identical. Some leather demands to be fashioned into a collar, another begs to become a flogger. Often it takes some time to decide what best to use a particular piece of leather for.. but eventually it shows its destiny, usually without compromise :)
Very little of my work is sewn. I prefer to use rivets and braiding to give the piece its form. That allows the leather to be flexible within its natural range, and retain more of its character.
