Doctors always get excited when i tell them about my 'collection'..
I suppose that comes from being bored shitless all day with Mrs Bratowitz' bunyons.. or the endless procession of snotty children and battle weary mothers..
Ok.. enough waffle i will start with the one that makes their eyes light up...

Basically it means I fall asleep quite unexpectedly.. and before you ask.. no i have never fallen asleep during sex.. although there have been times when it would have been more interesting if i had...
There have been memorable occasions where I have fallen asleep standing up... at the traffic lights between green and red.. and on first dates...
Another interesting symptom of narcolepsy are hypnagogic dreams. These are intense and vivid, when i wake it is sometimes hard to differentiate dream from reality. See my journal for more background on these dreams.
As a result i take dexamphetamine tablets, what makes someone without narcolepsy climb the walls in a hyperactive frenzy just makes me acceptably alert..

Never fear.. well almost never.. HCV is only contracted through blood to blood contact. I contracted it a million years ago when it had no formal letter attached.. it was just known as non-A non-B. Innocently at the time i believed that this meant it was just a common garden variety hepatitis and after going through the attractive jaundiced stage i would leave it behind me.
I found out that it was HCV and still active in my system 15 years after contracting it. My workplace was offering vaccinations against Hepatitis B, as part of their occupational health and safety responsibility.. and so before getting the jab i thought i would check to see if i needed it... I thought that maybe having had hepatitis before i would now be immune to further infection and therefore would not need the needle..
I found out that the virus was still active in my body.. and that althought my liver function tests are normal.. there is ongoing damage..

Yes.. I am greedy. I have Rheumatoid Arthiritis too.. although there is some uncertainty over whether it is a symptom of the HCV or a totally unrelated condition. HCV can cause the rheumatoid factor in your blood to rise.. therefore mimicking the disease.
Rhematoid Arthritis is an auto immune disease.. basically my joints are confused. My body sends in antibodies to attack the healthy tissue around my joints. It is only my knees that are affected at this stage.. and it is episodic.. goes away and i forget about it.. then it returns to remind me that its still there.. however i feel about it..
