Weird Loners, on FOX

So, this had just six episodes. Which is why I'm filing my review under "too something," because it really should have lasted longer. (If it had, I'd probably file it under "quirky.") When I first heard of the show, I wasn't really expecting to be interested in it. But then I saw some ads that I liked, so I decided to check it out, still not expecting much. But it turned out that I liked the pilot a lot. And I really liked all the episodes, in fact I'd almost say I loved the show... and probably would rate it as "loved" if it were longer. Seriously, I don't understand why anyone wouldn't like the show. I found it hilarious. Maybe that's because I'm a weird loner, myself. Although I don't think I have anything in common with any of the characters on the show... but I do like them all.
Anyway, there's a woman named Caryn Goldfarb, who has been dating a man named Howard, whom she doesn't love, though he loves her and wants to get married. She's been trying to find the right guy for her, but finally she decides to give up, and marry Howard. (Though by the end of the pilot, she changes her mind, and breaks up with him.) Meanwhile, there's a guy named Stosh Lewandoski (Zachary Knighton, who I had seen in things before without remembering him, but now I know him from Magnum P.I.), who has just gotten fired for sleeping with his boss's fiancée. And since he lived in a company condo, he's now homeless. Meanwhile, a man-child named Eric Lewandoski (Stosh's cousin, played by Nate Torrence) lives with his widower father, who suddenly dies. Stosh then decides to move in with Eric, who happens to be Caryn's neighbor. Also there's a bisexual painter named Zara Sandhu, who decides to leave her boyfriend, whom she had stopped loving awhile ago, even though he thought they were happy together. When Stosh tells Eric that he should spend some time out of the house, and also redecorate (since the place looked exactly the same as when they were kids), he goes to a street market and buys a painting from Zara, who gives him a ride back to his apartment so he won't have to walk. And Zara ends up becoming roommates with Caryn. So... these four quirky characters hang out together a lot, sometimes getting on one another's nerves, but ultimately... I dunno, I just think their eccentricities play off each other in ways that can range from aggravating to redonkulous to crazy to really sweet, but always very amusing. And weird.
