Star Wars movies
see also Star Wars shows and Star Wars books

So um, basically just to save space in the navframe of my science fiction reviews, I'm giving Star Wars its own section. (See also Star Trek.) I guess I don't really know what else to say here, except that while I'm definitely a fan of the franchise, I don't think I've read any Star Wars comics or played any video games or... really done much of anything beyond watching movies and TV and a bit of reading. And making up a ship & crew that I was going to use in fanfic, but never got around to. (Although back in the 90s, I was involved in a series of online collaborative Star Trek fanfic stories called "Rounders," one of which was a Trek-Star Wars crossover called "Imperial Entanglements.")

Oh, and I have the movies listed here in chronological order of the story, rather than order of release. (Side story films have an asterisk.) This doesn't mean to suggest I think you should necessarily watch them in that order. The actual order in which the movies were made goes: Episode IV, V, VI, I, II, III, Clone Wars. (And later there will be Episode VII, etc., but that hasn't happened yet.) Actually, my personal recommendation is to watch them in release order, except with Clone Wars between episodes II and III. You could also try Machete Order, but I've never done that, so I can't comment on it (except to say that it sounds interesting).

Also I should say that this is one of the most massively popular franchises in the history of modern storytelling. It has had an incalculable influence on other sci-fi stories that have come after it, and on pop culture in general. It has generated countless merchandise. There have been numerous parodies, fan films, commercials, homages, rip-offs, discussions about the movies by fictional characters in other movies or shows, etc. Here are just a few of them:

Clerks / Fanboys / The Force Awakens from Its Nap / George Lucas in Love / Hardware Wars / Laugh It Up, Fuzzball / The Pink Five Saga / Spaceballs / Space Janitors
