Fanfiction!
Welcome all, welcome! I'm very glad to call myself the owner of this page, because I love fanfics so much! I do hope y'all will submit as many as you like, but first you must follow these "rules".
Rules for Writing
Be Creative. One very big reason to write fanfics is to widen your writing skills. Please be descriptive in emotions, actions, etc.. I don't want to have to read or have other people read "He said..." or "She said..." over and over. It's a big pet peeve with me.
Proper Punctuation: Dot, dot, dot, dot, dot, dot.... Yet another pet peeve: using only two periods. It can't be done unless you're writing an abreviation and then a period etc.. (<-- Yeah, like that.) An ellipsis is three period dots. This is generally used when someone is trailing off in the middle of a sentence etc., and a fourth is added if it actually is the end of a sentence. (I hope that made sense.) Also: don't write more than four periods. Never! I hate it.................so much.
Proper Punctuation: Quotes. PLEASE make sure you put quotations around the entire quote. Please! Here is an example of what not to do in the way of sentence endings: ' "I don't think so." He replied.' Don't do this. 'He replied.' is not a complete sentence. This is correct: ' "I don't think so," he replied.' The comma may only be replaced by a question mark, exclaimation point, or ellipsis (see above). When the comma is replaced the 'he' in 'he replied.' still remains lower-case. The comma may also be replaced by a period of an action follows. Ex: ' "I don't think so." He sat down.' But mind you, a little description in the tone of voice is very, very helpful. Ex: ' "I don't think so," he replied as he sat down.'
Proper Punctuation: Exclamation and question marks. Please refrain from putting multiple exclamation marks or question marks after ANYTHING you type in your fanfic. Exclaimation marks may be few in number if someone has just screamed VERY surprisingly, or done something to that extent. Remember: THIS IS NOT A CHATROOM!!!!!!!!!!!! Do you understand????????????????????????
Spelling and Typos. Don't get me started on how just one little typo can alter a whole paragraph. PLEASE check both your spelling and typos. This means rereading a lot. It could possibly to take a whole month to reread in case you're the kind that have to put it away for a while before they can edit their mistakes.
Paragraphs and Styles. Don't center the text unless it's the title, author, author's note, or divider for between scenes. Spacing between paragraphs is ok as I'll probably do that anyway. Just tell me if you don't prefer them to be. If you don't prefer them to be, please indent your paragraphs or put spacings between them.
Rules for Submitting
Description. E-mail me the fic title and discription so I may know what to put when I post it. (Speaking of posting, any "geeks" out there willing to teach me to make a self-posting thingymabobber? I thought not.) Give me a genre for your story. (Ex: Comedy) There may be two, or, if you're extreme, three. (Ex: Action/Comedy) Also give me a rating, if you wish (Ex: PG-13). It doesn't have to be rated, but if you don't give it your own rating I'll probably put my own.
Attachment. You may give me a website address (which I prefer, so I don't have to do more work than necessary) or attach it in document form (Ex: story.doc or story.txt) or html/htm form. I'd really rather not have the story in the actual e-mail. All you e-mail buffs out there will know why, but I can't explain it to all you others. If you attach, please please do any kind of virus scan you can before e-mailing me an attached document. If my computer gets a virus (1) your story will not be posted on my site and you will either be blocked from my e-mail or sought out and sacked by a Swedish moose, (2) all my fics, other people's fics, and my backups to my websites may be destroyed or permanently mutated, (3) I will be very mad.
Recognition. What more could be better than recognition for good works? When sending me your fanfic, please say whether you would like me to link to your website, e-mail address, nothing at all, or something else when posting your fanfic. In my opinion, I would rather have some recognition more than a name; it gives more personality.
Thank you!
