Rhiannon, Guardian of Past Lives

I swam out to the ocean
And I sank too deep.
Found the maker of my mind
And I said, "What did I see?"
Rode atop a dragon
And we swam through the air.
Looked around and watched
What I knew wasn't there.
Heard the silent cries of
The sleepers when they wake.
Turned and destroyed
What I knew I couldn't make.
Fire burns on water
In the world in which we live.
Everybody takes what they know
They cannot give.
People always tremble
When they stand very still.
They're forced to give up their freedom,
And they do it all at will.
It's possible to know someone
That you never met.
First you win the world at cards
And then you place your bet.
You raise your arms up to the sky
As you fall down to the ground.
You open up and scream
And yet there is no sound.
If you fail at succeeding
You'll win what was just lost.
And you'll see that though it may be free,
It still has the highest cost.
