Pete Stout (1962-65): Pete Stout was the first ever head football coach at Western Alamance High School. He posted a 29-11-1 record during his 4 year tenure, including two 10 win seasons (1963 and 1965). Mr. Stout's .707 career winning percentage is still a school record.
After leaving WA, Mr. Stout had a very successful career at Williams High School, where he won 2 state championships (1980 and 1981). Mr. Stout also coached at Cawtaba College.
Mickey Walker (1966): Mickey Walker had a 2-7-1 record during his one year at WA.
Jim Stout (1967-70): Jim Stout only had one losing season during his stint as WA head football coach (1967). He compiled a 22-18-1 record over his four year tenure.
Chuck Maynard (1971): Chuck Maynard only spent one year at the helm of the Warriors, posting a 4-5-1 record.
John Garrison (1972-73): John Garrison had an 11-10 record during his two years as head football coach. He led the Warriors to a playoff berth in 1972.
Mr. Garrison held many other positions during his long career at Western, including head basketball coach and athletic director.
Sam Ward (1974-76): Coaching for three seasons during the mid-70s, Sam Ward compiled a 8-21-1 record.
Harry Jennings (1977): During his one and only season at Western, Harry Jennings posted a winning 6-4 record.
Bob Hanna (1978-79): Bob Hanna went 11-9 during his two seasons as WA head coach. After leaving Western, Hanna spent some time as the head coach at Cummings High School during the early 1980s.
Hanna now serves as head football coach and athletic director at Irmo High School in Columbia SC.
Tommy Pursley (1980-82): Tommy Pursley coached the Warriors for three successful seasons in the early 1980s. Today, Mr. Pursley is the head coach at Northeast Guilford High School. In 2003 he led Northeast to a state championship appearance.
Mickey Brown (1983-91): Mickey Brown led Western to two playoff appearances during his 9 season reign as head coach. Prior to coming to Western, Mr. Brown was an assistant coach at Elon College and Duke University.
Hal Capps (1992-present): With 12 seasons already under his belt, Hal Capps is the longest serving head coach in WA history. He has an overall record of 90-58. He has won more games than any other WA head coach. Mr. Capps has guided the Warriors to 6 playoff appearances and has had 4 seasons with ten or more wins.
