Plateauing is such an awful thing yet such a normal thing to go through.

For me, going through a plateau is one of the worst feelings in the world.  I am doing the same I have been doing yet getting no where.

Let me say this first before explaining what I do for a plateau... Just because you do not see the scale move for one week does not mean you are at a plateau.  You could have lost inches and not weight, you could have built the same amount muscle mass that you lost in pounds of fat.  So, if you are on the scale and you didn't lose any poundage... get out that tape measurer and measure your inches.  I always say that if you haven't lost anything in 3 or more weeks by the scale, you are probably at that inevitable hump!

Ok, now for what I do.. it is very simple...

  1. Weigh yourself and write it down, turn the scale over and Put that piece of paper on the back of the scale in big bold print with this in red ink... "DON'T WEIGH UNTIL X (2 weeks from today's date)
  2. Stop DIETING!  Now this doesn't mean pig out, but it does mean eat the things you have avoided during the eating healthy.  Have that steak, that hamburger, McDonalds, just don't overeat.
  3. Stop exercising.  This one is really hard for me.  So, I actually do cardio only 2 times during that week instead of 5.
  4. At the end of one week, celebrate that you are going to go back to eating healthy.
  5. Beginning of the week, eat healthy again.  Stop eating the junk you had been for the past week.
  6. Do cardio for 20 minutes at least 3 days per week.
  7. Do weight training for no more than 1 hour, but no less than 45 minutes at least 2 times per week.
  8. At the end of that week, turn that scale over and weigh yourself.
  9. DID YOU LOSE?????  Of course you did!  CONGRATULATIONS!!!

Well, that is what I do.. Happy Weightloss!
